Tickets are now on sale for the acclaimed musical, THE BOOK OF MORMON, which will be performing at Broadway In Chicago’s CIBC Theatre from October 14 to October 19, 2023, for a limited one-week engagement.
This groundbreaking production, featuring book, music, and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone, has garnered critical acclaim since its Broadway debut on March 24, 2011.
Directed by Parker alongside two-time Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw, with choreography by Nicholaw, the tour is overseen by Jennifer Werner, maintaining the original’s direction and choreography.
Notable design elements include set design by three-time Tony Award winner Scott Pask, costume design by Tony Award winner Ann Roth, and lighting design by five-time Tony Award winner Brian MacDevitt.
The sound design is crafted by two-time Tony Award winner Brian Ronan, and hair design is managed by Josh Marquette.
Orchestrations are handled by Tony Award winner Larry Hochman and two-time Tony Award winner Stephen Oremus, who also oversees music supervision and vocal arrangements.
Casting is managed by Carrie Gardner.
The musical has shattered records, becoming one of the most successful shows in Broadway history by breaking the house record at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre over 50 times.
It has received nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, as well as the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.
Additionally, THE BOOK OF MORMON has won five Drama Desk Awards among other accolades, fortifying its position in the theatre landscape.
The West End production, which premiered in February 2013, furthered the musical’s legacy by winning four Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical, while also achieving the record for the highest single day of sales in West End history.
Since its inception, the first UK and European tour launched in Manchester in June 2019, winning the title of ‘Best Theatre Show’ at the Manchester Evening News City Life Awards before expanding across the UK and Europe.
Performances of THE BOOK OF MORMON have spanned three continents, with the musical collecting over 30 international awards.
It has set box office records in major cities, including New York, London, Melbourne, and Sydney, and continues to garner widespread acclaim.
The Original Broadway Cast Recording, which won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, is available through Ghostlight Records and serves as a testament to the show’s vibrancy and artistry.
In related news, THE BOOK OF MORMON will return to Kansas City for one week only from September 16 to September 21, 2025, as well as to Peoria on December 2 and 3, 2025, as part of the 25-26 Ameren Illinois Broadway in Peoria Series.
