United Airlines has announced an ambitious expansion of its flight schedule from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) this fall, marking the airline’s busiest season to date.
Adding an impressive 50 extra flights this November, the airline will experience a 10% increase in services to warm-weather destinations, particularly in sunny Florida.
This fall, United will operate up to 592 flights daily from Chicago, surpassing its summer schedule with even more routes available.
The expanded offerings will include direct flights to popular destinations such as Phoenix, Austin, and Orlando, along with increased services to international locations like Costa Rica, Mexico, Saint Martin, and the Dominican Republic.
The growth comes on the heels of a historic summer for United in Chicago, with the airline recording its highest number of flights in more than 20 years.
In July alone, United reached a peak of 71,000 seats available each day, establishing a new benchmark for the airline’s operations at O’Hare.
Omar Idris, United’s Vice President for O’Hare, expressed his enthusiasm about the record-breaking summer and the anticipated busy fall ahead.
“Building on the momentum of an anticipated-record-breaking summer, we’re taking things further this fall with our busiest flight schedule of the year — adding more flights and extending service to warm-weather destinations in the U.S. and around the world,” Idris stated.
“This is truly a historic time for our hometown hub of O’Hare as we’re not only offering our customers the largest network from Chicago, but also new industry-leading amenities both at the airport and in the air.”
In conjunction with this expanded flight schedule, United has also made improvements to its on-the-ground offerings.
This spring, the airline unveiled a newly renovated Polaris Lounge at O’Hare, significantly expanding its capacity to 25,000 square feet.
Additionally, passengers on select routes will benefit from Starlink-equipped aircraft, providing gate-to-gate internet access to keep travelers connected throughout their journeys.
Six international routes from O’Hare will see their schedules extended and expanded into November, catering to travelers headed to Latin and Caribbean destinations, including Costa Rica, Mexico, Saint Martin, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.
United’s fleet will now include the latest aircraft models, such as the Airbus A321neo and Boeing 737 MAX 9, which will facilitate the airline’s ability to serve more passengers and destinations.
Most of these modern planes will feature seatback entertainment and enhanced overhead luggage space, making for a more convenient travel experience.
In addition to bolstering its flight offerings, United Airlines continues to solidify its commitment to employment within the Chicago area.
With over 18,000 employees, the airline has recently hired 2,000 new staff members and is on track to hire an additional 5,400 employees by 2027.
Overall, United Airlines is poised to redefine air travel from Chicago, enhancing connectivity and providing expanded options for both leisure and business travelers.
As travelers gear up for a busy fall of flying, United’s increased offerings affirm its status as Chicago’s hometown airline, ready to meet the demands of its customers.
