Free Back-to-School Events Taking Place Across Metro Atlanta

As the start of the school year approaches in metro Atlanta, parents are preparing for the financial responsibilities that come with it.

To assist families, various school districts and community organizations are organizing free back-to-school giveaways and events throughout the area.

Among the highlights, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office will host its annual Back To School Bash on Saturday, running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Paul AME Church, located at 1540 Pryor Rd. SW.

This ticketed event will provide book bags filled with school supplies, available while supplies last.

In Gwinnett County, the sheriff’s office has partnered with Live Healthy Gwinnett for its fifth annual Back-to-School Bash.

Scheduled for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds on Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville, this event will offer free health screenings and school supplies while supplies last.

The city of Stockbridge will also join the efforts with a back-to-school giveaway taking place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This event will be held at the Stockbridge Amphitheater’s parking lot, located at 4650 North Henry Blvd. in Stockbridge.

In Henry County, the fire rescue department is organizing a “Goodbye Summer Beach Bash” on July 26 at the Jason T. Harper Event Center, located at 95 Lake Dow Road in McDonough.

During this event, school supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.

Clayton County Public Schools has also planned its annual Back-to-School Bash for July 26 from 10 a.m. to noon.

This event aims to support Clayton students and families by providing free school supplies and hosting information sessions for parents.

Four host locations will serve as distribution sites: Charles Drew High School in Riverdale, Forest Park High School, Mount Zion High School in Jonesboro, and Eddie White Academy in Hampton.

Fulton County Schools are also gearing up for a districtwide back-to-school event on July 26 from noon to 4 p.m.

The event will provide free school supplies, on-site student registration, bus transportation schedules, health screenings, and other giveaways at two locations: Riverwood International Charter School in Sandy Springs and Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, in collaboration with the City of College Park’s KidsFest.

Parents can also participate in the annual Stuff The Bus school supply collection drive, organized by Channel 2 Action News, The Family 2 Family Project, and The Children’s Restoration Network on July 26.

There will be eight drop-off locations across metro Atlanta for donations, and contributions can also be made online in partnership with the United Way of Greater Atlanta.

On July 27, Foot Locker will host a Community Day event at its Lee Street Community Store, located at 562 Lee St. SW, from noon to 4 p.m.

This family-friendly event, part of Foot Locker’s Community Empowerment Program, will offer attendees back-to-school supplies, career coaching, resume-building support, and free haircuts provided by celebrity barber Marcus Harvey.

Additionally, on July 27 at 1 p.m., Atlanta-area Verizon Wireless stores will distribute hundreds of backpacks to students in need.

A special “Shoesday” giveaway will be held on July 29 from 6 to 10 a.m., hosted by 1-800-TruckWreck in partnership with KISS 104.1 FM.

The first 200 families will receive a $100 gift card, with the location details to be announced on KISS 104.1 FM on July 28.

In conclusion, Atlanta Public Schools will celebrate its annual back-to-school event on August 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lakewood Stadium.
