Samsung is gearing up to release One UI 8.0, the latest iteration of its user interface, which is set to debut on new devices soon. The update is also expected to roll out to older Galaxy phones in the coming months, bringing a range of fresh features that aim to enhance the user experience. Though not as extensive as the transition from One UI 6.0 to 7.0, One UI 8.0 introduces several noteworthy additions that users are likely to appreciate, particularly during leisurely weekend moments.
Among the most talked-about features is the revamped camera control interface. One UI 8.0 now allows users to swipe up or down directly in the camera’s Settings menu, enabling quicker access to essential camera controls. By default, this action lets you toggle between the front and rear cameras, but users have the option to adjust it for immediate access to a series of quick camera controls instead.
These quick controls encompass vital settings like flash, timer, aspect ratio, resolution, motion photo, exposure settings, filters, and face adjustments. While the original method to access these controls involved navigating through the Quick Controls button, this new swipe feature proves more accessible, especially when handling the phone with one hand. Users still have the ability to switch cameras via the dedicated button at the bottom right corner of the screen, ensuring functionality is not compromised.
Following the capturing of those cherished moments, sharing becomes the next priority. One UI 8 introduces an enhanced Quick Share feature that streamlines the file-sharing process amongst family and friends. Now, the interface is neatly organized into two distinct tabs—Receive and Send. In the Send tab, all devices within reach are displayed, making it easy to share images, videos, or other files. Meanwhile, the Receive tab prepares the user’s device to accept files, which can be effortlessly managed through direct access to visibility settings and device naming.
Web browsing sees a boost as well, with the new version of Samsung Internet integrated into One UI 8.0. The redesigned UI now keeps all essential controls accessible, enhancing the user experience during weekend browsing sessions. Previously, activating the menu would obscure the webpage’s URL and icons for downloads, history, or settings. One UI 8.0 rectifies that issue and includes stylish background blur effects that improves the overall look, a feature lacking in earlier iterations.
In addition to these enhancements, One UI 8.0 also improves alarm and reminder management, making it simpler to organize schedules for the week ahead. Users can now group alarms and toggle them on or off with ease. Additionally, the Reminder app has undergone a significant redesign, facilitating better category visualization and the ability to hide or display custom categories as needed. For those starting with reminders, sample entries assist in quickly setting up new tasks.
Creating reminders has also been streamlined. Users can initiate a reminder directly from the Calendar app by selecting the + button, which allows for creating either an Event or a Reminder. After tapping the Reminder option, users can seamlessly view it in both the Calendar and Reminder applications. Voice creation of reminders via the microphone button in the Reminder app further enhances its usability.
