Bastille Day Celebrations in Dallas-Fort Worth: A Taste of France

As the summer sun shines upon Dallas-Fort Worth in mid-July, a vibrant splash of French culture emerges to honor a significant historical event—Bastille Day.

Commemorating the storming of the Bastille prison on July 14, 1789, this national holiday marks France’s transition from monarchy to republic.

Even far from French soil, North Texas finds joy in this celebration, hosting several events that embrace the spirit of la fête nationale.

La Parisienne French Bistro, which opened its doors in March 2023, plans to celebrate with a modern twist.

Manager Luis Ruiz notes that guests coming in on Bastille Day often feel a sense of celebration and connection to their heritage.

For those looking to join in the festivities, a variety of events, tea parties, and more await throughout Dallas-Fort Worth.

At The Adolphus Hotel in downtown Dallas, visitors can engage in a delightful tea service from July 12 to 14 in the elegant French Room.

This two-course experience features a selection of sandwiches and festive French pastries, with special sweet treats available on the official Bastille Day, July 14.

Reservations are highly recommended for this enjoyable affair at The Adolphus, located at 1321 Commerce St., with a cost of $80 per person.

In Plano, the Alliance Française de Dallas is collaborating with My French Recipe to host a unique baking workshop for children on July 12.

Young “petit chefs” will have the opportunity to bake classic madeleines while engaging in food-themed games and crafts.

This fun-filled event costs $60 for participants and $55 for members of the Alliance Française de Dallas, and registration is required.

Bishop Arts will come alive with the 15th annual Bastille on Bishop festival on July 14.

This cherished event in Oak Cliff will offer attendees the chance to proclaim “Vive le 14 juillet!” while enjoying wine, live performances, and traditional French cuisine.

Festivalgoers can also visit Dallas Vintage Shop for French attire, with many dressing up as historical figures like Marie Antoinette or Marquis de Lafayette.

The celebration will be family-friendly, featuring kids’ activities, circus performances, and authentic French foods.

Bastille on Bishop will take place from 6 to 11 p.m. in the Bishop Arts District, and entrance is free.

On July 12, Coupes in Highland Park will honor its French connections with a special offer of 25% off all bottles of wine.

Enhancing the festive atmosphere, the restaurant will serve Bastille Day crepes while playing French and Italian funk, disco, and jazz music from the ’70s and ’80s.

Meanwhile, Fort Worth’s Kimbell Art Museum invites guests to its Kimbell Cafe on July 11 for “La Fête de la Bastille Happy Hour.”

This event will run from 5 to 7 p.m. and features French-themed scavenger hunts, live music, beverages, and snacks.

While attendance is free, registration is required for this engaging celebration at 3333 Camp Bowie Blvd.

From July 11 to 14, La Parisienne French Bistro will dive into the local festivities with a four-day celebration featuring exquisite French dishes.

Diners can enjoy Bastille Day specials, including a $7 glass of house Champagne, and those sporting a beret will be rewarded with complimentary Champagne.

The restaurant also offers afternoon tea specials throughout July to honor both American and French Independence days.

For a simpler indulgence, Cremcrittos Patisserie in McKinney will feature a stunning selection of French pastries on Bastille Day, including coconut croissants and kouign-amann, known for its buttery, flaky texture.

Those who wish to express their artistic flair can join a painting party at Painting With a Twist in Bluffview on July 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Participants will create a Paris-inspired floral painting on a 16-by-20-inch canvas, with the option to make scented candles fifty minutes prior to the main event.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own wine to enhance the painting experience, with tickets priced at $32 per person and an additional $20 for the candle-making session.

Lastly, Salut Paris Bakery located in Galleria Dallas will offer a delightful assortment of pastries on Bastille Day, including butter croissants and macaron cakes.

Shoppers will receive a 15% discount on purchases exceeding $100 as a sweet tribute to France.

North Texas is set for a lively Bastille Day filled with delectable food, spirited events, and a celebration of French culture—Vive la France!
