As the summer draws to a close, families in metro Atlanta and North Georgia are gearing up for the upcoming school year, and a plethora of back-to-school events are ready to support them. From supply giveaways to engaging activities, numerous organizations in the area are stepping up to provide assistance to those in need.
One of the first events is the New Creation Christian Fellowship Supply Giveaway, happening on July 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 828 S. Stone Mountain Lithonia Road in Stone Mountain. This event promises free school supplies for families, though attendees must secure a ticket to participate.
The Unashamed Back-to-School Bash will follow on July 19, from 12 to 3 p.m., hosted at Excel Church at 151 Flat Shoals Road in Conyers. This event includes games, food, music, and a wide array of school supplies, also requiring a ticket for entry.
Overcomers Christian Fellowship is set to host its Back-to-School Bash on July 20 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at 7373 Covington Hwy in Lithonia, providing free school supplies, games, and additional fun activities, once again necessitating a ticket for attendees.
Asia Realty’s Back-to-School Bash on July 26 will take place from 12 to 3 p.m. at 1657 Phoenix Blvd in College Park. With another opportunity for free school supplies, this event will also require tickets for entry.
Families can also look forward to the Rockdale County Back-to-School Bash on July 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wheeler Park Lawn, located at 1400 Parker Road in Conyers. This event allows children to be present to receive giveaways and partake in enjoyable activities.
Later that day, multiple back-to-school giveaways will occur, including the In The Layne Back-2-School Giveaway at Grace Church in Marietta from 2 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 9, featuring free supplies, bounce houses, water games, and food. A ticket is required to attend this fun-filled event.
At Chit Chat Restaurant & Lounge on July 26 from 1 to 4 p.m., families can enjoy another back-to-school giveaway, with prizes, delicious food, and free haircuts provided by local barbers, also requiring a ticket for entry.
Forest Park’s Total Victory Worship Center will host a giveaway on July 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering free bookbags, school supplies, and more. Tickets are mandatory for participants, as they are at Cascade United Methodist Church locations in both SW Atlanta and Midtown Atlanta, which will also provide essential school supplies and refreshments during the same time frame on July 26.
For those interested in a backpack, the School Rocks Backpack Giveaway will take place at participating Wireless Zone stores on July 27 at 1 p.m., where children can obtain one backpack per child.
The Macy’s Back-to-School Fashion Show & Expo on July 27 from 12 to 5 p.m. at North Point Mall in Alpharetta promises an exciting day with live DJ entertainment, a fashion show, giveaways for the first 50 guests, and a vendor expo featuring ice cream and more.
Union City will host a Backpack Giveaway & Pop-up Shop on Aug. 2 from 12 to 5 p.m. at J.R. Crickets, where attendees will have the chance to enjoy great food and drinks while obtaining their backpacks.
Atlanta Public Schools will host a Back-to-School Festival on Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lakewood Stadium, but registration is required for APS families to access the school supplies and resources.
The Back 2 Skool Drive by Children Soar Inc. will take place on Aug. 2 from 12 to 4 p.m. at Liberty International Church, offering free haircuts, food, games, and school supplies, with tickets needed for attendance.
United Church in Atlanta will also provide a Back-to-School Bash on Aug. 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring free backpacks, school supplies, health screenings, and games, although RSVP is necessary for participation.
On Aug. 3, families can enjoy the Powder Springs Community Fair from 1 to 4 p.m., featuring free school supplies and fun activities at Quality Solutions Global in Powder Springs, requiring a ticket for entry.
The Back-to-the-Books School Supply Giveaway at Eastside Boxing Gym on Aug. 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. will offer school supplies along with music, face painting, and guest speakers.
As the summer approaches its end, the End of Summer Bash: Back-to-School Finale on Aug. 16 from 12 to 5 p.m. at Mozley Park will provide another chance for families to receive free school supplies with ticket requirements for attendance.
Additionally, the Cobb County Backpacks & Badges Drive, running through Aug. 1, invites community members to donate new backpacks and school supplies at designated drop-off locations.
For families interested in health resources, the Fulton County Board of Health will host Health & Resource Fairs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on various dates, providing free immunizations and educational resources at community health centers throughout Atlanta.
