During her recent appearance at the TIME100 Summit in New York City, Meghan Markle shared an upbeat confession about her personal happiness and family life.
On April 23, the Duchess of Sussex arrived at Jazz at Lincoln Center accompanied by her husband, Prince Harry, marking her second trip to the city in two months.
Speaking with Jessica Sibley, the Chief Executive Officer of Time, Meghan reflected on her current state of joy, saying, “A confession for you today that I can very comfortably say is that I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.”
She expressed gratitude for having a supportive partner and healthy, joyful children, stating, “I never would have imagined at this point I would feel so happy and grateful, and I really do.”
In her transparent conversation, Meghan also addressed the joys and challenges of being a working mother, revealing that her 5-year-old son, Prince Archie, is about to lose his first tooth, with hopes of being home in time for the moment.
Meghan noted that the family, which includes 3-year-old Princess Lilibet, is currently based in California.
Discussing her latest Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan,” she clarified that although it was filmed in their Montecito neighborhood, it was not shot in their actual home.
“On this show, it’s a crew of 80 people,” Meghan explained. “People said, ‘Why didn’t you film the show in your house?’ I said, ‘My kids are coming home for their nap.’ Eighty people in the kitchen isn’t really the childhood memory I would love for them to have.”
Prince Harry and Meghan have maintained a strong relationship with TIME, previously being featured on the magazine’s list of Most Influential People in 2021.
Reflecting on her busy year, Meghan has been focusing on various creative projects and entrepreneurial ventures.
Her series, “With Love, Meghan,” premiered on March 4, quickly topped the charts, and is set to return for a second season this fall, as revealed by PEOPLE.
Additionally, the first collection of food products from her lifestyle brand, As Ever, launched on April 2 and sold out within 45 minutes.
“After a year of work and development and manufacturing, we had a feeling there would be some buzz surrounding it, but 45 minutes was not something I could have anticipated,” Meghan shared at the panel.
On April 8, Meghan’s new podcast, “Confessions of a Female Founder,” premiered, marking her second foray into podcasting after her successful first season of “Archetypes” on Spotify in 2022.
In her new podcast, she interviews fellow female founders, including some of her famous friends, discussing their business journeys and the lessons learned along the way.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the Duchess expressed how other female entrepreneurs have inspired her on her own path.
“What’s been meaningful is being able to talk about my own entrepreneurial journey with other female founders who are either on their own trajectory of growth or have IPO’d, sold, or created high-impact brands and gone through all of the learning curves that we all do at the start,” Meghan shared.
She emphasized the importance of the learning process, saying, “You’re just trying to figure out how to walk, then you want to learn how to run, and then you want to learn how to fly. All of those things take time.”
Meghan also pointed out the excitement and energy that comes with learning as one grows older, stating, “The entrepreneurial journey, for anyone, is a lot, and I’m also really, really lucky that so many of my close friends are female founders that I can glean advice from.”
Returning to New York in early March, Meghan had several outings to promote her Netflix series, surprising long-time followers of her original lifestyle blog, The Tig, at a special screening of “With Love” in NYC.
The Tig, which she ran from 2014 to 2017 while portraying her role on “Suits,” served as a platform for her love of cooking, creating, gardening, and entertaining, and was retired as her relationship with Prince Harry intensified.
