In an idyllic celebration that melded shared passions and a love for the scenic beauty of Hawaii, Alexa Dell and Frédéric Choquette tied the knot on March 29, 2025, in Kona on the Big Island.
The couple, who first connected in Los Angeles in 2023 over rooftop drinks, discovered their bond was deepened by a shared enthusiasm for cycling.
“I took my time to feel things out though,” Alexa remarks, reflecting on the early stages of their relationship.
After a few months of friendship, a surf competition for a friend’s daughter changed everything.
“Watching him be so supportive of the kids in the water was the moment I started to see him differently,” Alexa explains.
She decided to give Frédéric a real chance, while he claims he felt an instant connection from day one.
Their summer in Malibu brought further clarity to their relationship as they developed a routine of biking to the beach in the afternoons.
The day of Frédéric’s proposal was marked by a romantic touch, with flowers in Alexa’s bike basket.
When they walked down their usual path to the beach, he popped the question in an effortless and natural manner, making it the perfect moment that signaled the start of their new life together.
The couple’s wedding weekend was filled with a variety of activities, allowing their friends and family to enjoy the enchanting Hawaiian landscape.
“Hawaii has been a part of my life since childhood, so it felt meaningful to bring everyone into a place that already holds so many memories,” Alexa said.
Their festivities kicked off on Thursday with a pool party, setting a relaxed tone for the weekend.
Later that evening, a private cocktail hour created an opportunity for guests to reconnect and settle in for the celebrations.
On Friday, the couple embraced the vibrant local culture by hosting a traditional luau, complete with performances and a menu rich in local flavors.
The wedding ceremony itself emphasized a minimalist approach, allowing the breathtaking island environment to shine.
Every detail was designed with intention, aiming to create an atmosphere that felt both elevated and at ease.
“From the start, the vision was clear,” Alexa explains.
They sought to craft an experience that was immersive yet intuitive, embodying the essence of Hawaii while constructing a unique backdrop for their nuptials.
To ensure everything unfolded smoothly, the couple collaborated with Bash Please, a wedding planning team that helped bring their vision to life.
“Mollie, Sunna, and her team helped bring it all to life, making sure the weekend flowed seamlessly,” Alexa shares.
They prioritized working with local Hawaiian vendors to enhance the authenticity of the experience.
Their florist, Ren MacDonald-Balasia of Renko Floral, incorporated native materials and traditional techniques into stunning arrangements, while the catering showcased the island’s culinary delights.
Even the guest gifts were chosen to create a connection to the location.
“We didn’t overthink anything—we just focused on making every element feel natural, considered, and completely our own,” Alexa says, reflecting on the planning process.
The bride’s attire for the wedding weekend was distinct for each event, drawing inspiration from the itinerary and evolving with the celebrations.
“I wanted everything I wore to feel woven into the weekend—not just appropriate for the location, but reflective of each moment as the weekend unfolded,” she states.
For the pool party on Thursday, Alexa donned a sheer dress over a blue bikini, accessorized with coral and sapphire earrings gifted by Frédéric.
Later at the welcome cocktails, she wore a beachy two-piece set from Francesca Miranda that beautifully combined effortlessness with a romantic touch.
Fred complemented her in a stylish yet relaxed knit polo from Loro Piana, paired with cream trousers by Brunello Cucinelli.
Their six-year-old son, Lucien, sported a matching outfit, much to the delight of Alexa, who expressed her appreciation for their coordination.
On the following night, for the luau, Alexa showcased two interpretations of island dressing.
The first, an ethereal dress from Jean Paul Gaultier’s recent couture collection, was noted for its inspiration drawn from Herb Ritts’s iconic photographs of Cindy Crawford on Hawaii’s volcanic beaches.
“This look captured the contrast of Kona’s landscape, connecting the rawness of lava with nature’s shaping hand,
