Kicking off the events on Friday, May 2, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., NYC Parks is hosting a Spring Festival at the Hunts Point Recreation Center, located at 765 Manida St. This free event is sponsored by council member Rafael Salamanca and promises a delightful array of activities, including games, arts & crafts, and sports for attendees of all ages.
Arts and culture enthusiasts will not want to miss Bronx Opera’s performance of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte on Saturday, May 3, starting at 7:30 p.m. The show will take place at the Lehman College/Lovinger Theatre, situated at 250 Bedford Park Blvd. W. Tickets range from $32.90 to $43.30 and will feature a captivating exploration of the dynamics between two sisters and their soldier boyfriends, directed by Benjamin Spierman.
For those looking for a fun way to stay active, the Bronx Bound: SIS 5K Run/Walk occurs the same day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the Fordham University Rose Hill campus at 2691 Southern Blvd. Registrants can join the celebration of 30 years of tuition-free Catholic education provided by the Saint Ignatius School community. With a registration fee of $30, participants will also enjoy a post-race community breakfast.
On Sunday, May 4, residents can immerse themselves in Albanian culture at the 4th Annual Gjergj Kastrioti Skenderbeu Fair, held from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the corner of Crescent Ave. and Arthur Ave., at 610 Crescent Ave. This free fair will showcase traditional music, dancing, performances, and delicious food celebrating the rich heritage of the Albanian community.
For creative minds, a Paint a Tote event on Monday, May 5, will be held at the Francis Martin Library from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Participants aged 13 to 18 are invited to decorate their own tote bags using fabric paint pens, with all supplies provided at no cost.
