Iran’s Diplomat Asserts Continued Uranium Enrichment Ahead of Talks with U.S.

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s top diplomat reinforced the country’s stance on its nuclear ambitions, declaring that Tehran will never cease enriching uranium.

This statement was made by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi prior to a new round of indirect negotiations with the United States concerning Iran’s rapidly advancing nuclear program.

In his remarks, which were broadcast on state television, Araghchi emphasized, “I have said it before, and I repeat it again: uranium enrichment in Iran will continue — with or without an agreement.”

The comments come amidst multiple rounds of discussions between Iran and the U.S., including expert-level dialogues that have yet to culminate in a tangible agreement.

American officials, including President Donald Trump, Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, assert that Iran must relinquish its enrichment activities, a condition absent in the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.

As the U.S. continues to uphold its position, Iran’s Foreign Minister noted that the nation is currently evaluating its participation in the upcoming talks with the U.S.

“We have never abandoned diplomacy. We will always be present at the negotiating table, and the main reason for our presence is to defend the rights of the Iranian people,” Araghchi expressed.
