DENVER – A monumental initiative aimed at fostering connectivity through shared meals will debut this summer in Denver with the first-ever ‘Mile Long Table’.
Hosted by the non-profit organization Longer Tables, in collaboration with co-sponsors Southwest Airlines® and Serendipity Catering, this event seeks to bring together people from all walks of life to commemorate community and unity.
Set for July 26, 2025, the event features a staggering 5,280-foot long table on the Auraria Campus, accommodating up to 5,280 guests.
Tickets for the event can be purchased with a minimum donation of $5.28 for individual seats, whilst hosting packages are available starting at $75.00.
Tim Jones, founder and executive director of Longer Tables, expressed the philosophy behind this event, stating, “We believe the common table and shared meal hold the explosive potential to rehumanize people, battle loneliness, fight division and empower collaboration.”
Jones further articulated that a united community is essential for progress, saying, “A connected city is a flourishing city – and the Mile Long Table is a significant representation of Coloradans’ pride and our ability to serve as an inspirational example to set our differences aside and break bread together.”
Since its inception in 2013, Longer Tables has been dedicated to creating connections through shared meals.
Over the years, the organization has curated more than 100 gatherings across five states, working with cities, organizations, and various communities to cultivate a culture of belonging and connection.
The upcoming Mile Long Table aims to mirror the rich diversity of Denver and its surroundings by inviting various community members to participate and create a shared identity.
David Gilberto Olguín, director of cultural and community engagement at Auraria Campus, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “The Mile Long Table is an opportunity to honor and share the stories of the displaced communities of Auraria while inviting new guests to create their own Auraria stories on our vibrant campus.”
To orchestrate such an ambitious gathering, Longer Tables is collaborating with several purpose-driven companies eager to contribute to the community.
Southwest Airlines and Serendipity Catering are proudly serving as co-presenting sponsors of the Mile Long Table.
“At Southwest, we’re focused on a shared mission of connecting people to what’s important in their lives and their communities,” said Lexi Muller, senior corporate responsibility manager at Southwest Airlines.
Muller emphasized the airline’s dedication to fostering meaningful connections, stating, “Our commitment to expanding our Mile High Heart is stronger than ever.”
Guests will enjoy a lovingly prepared lunch that showcases ingredients celebrating the heritage of the Auraria neighborhood.
Notably, ancient grains will symbolize the indigenous tribal nations of the Cheyenne, Arapahoe, and Ute, while pinto beans will serve as a tribute to the Chicano Aurarians who inhabited the area for over a century before their displacement in the 1960s.
Serendipity Catering will provide over two tons of locally sourced produce and proteins, reflecting Colorado’s agricultural richness at this momentous event.
Laura Zaspel, chief executive officer and co-founder of Serendipity Catering, highlighted the values of the company, stating, “Community is the foundation of Serendipity Catering’s values.
We are dedicated to making the Mile Long Table event one that the guests will never forget – the lasting impact and joy that comes from breaking bread together.”
Longer Tables is still seeking additional partnerships for companies, non-profits, and associations interested in making a positive impact within the community.
Partnership opportunities encompass a range of benefits, including employee engagement, networking, volunteerism, and increased visibility during and after the event.
