The Lake Travis and Westlake region is buzzing with new business activity, showcasing a variety of openings, relocations, and updates that cater to diverse interests.
Among the newest additions is the Wakesurf Saloon, a lakeside restaurant that opened its doors on May 16. This venue serves smash burgers, pizza, and local Texas beers, in addition to craft cocktails, all while providing live music and sports programming.
Next to the Wakesurf Saloon, Wahoo’s Fish Tacos also opened on the same day, offering a menu filled with fish, chicken, and steak tacos, complemented by sides like chips, queso, and guacamole. Both establishments were launched by owner Jesse Fortney, marking an exciting dining experience for locals and visitors.
In another part of the area, Cafe Largesse opened on May 4, providing an inviting neighborhood cafe and wine bar. The cafe offers coffee, tea, pastries, paninis, salads, and tacos, catering to early risers and dinner-goers alike with hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and dinner from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.
Lake Travis Celebration Church has also launched its operations in the Hill Country Galleria as of April 27. The church aims to serve residents of Bee Cave and surrounding areas and is led by pastors Joe and Lori Champion, furthering their mission across Texas with other locations in Leander, Georgetown, and Central Austin.
Fitness enthusiasts can find their new home with the Nike Running Studio, which opened on March 15. The studio offers fitness classes focusing on endurance training and sprinting, with class packages available for those looking to improve their running skills.
In the culinary scene, SAF Wine Bar & Nosh opened in early April, replacing Graze Craze. This wine bar features a selection of 23 wines by the glass and 80 by the bottle, alongside an array of meat and cheese boards, flatbreads, desserts, and nonalcoholic beverages. The establishment operates Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to midnight and is owned by a local trio: Jon Graham, Malinee Kruasing, and Scott McHenry.
Automobile enthusiasts can also rejoice as Von Motors, a boutique car dealership focused on vehicles from the ’80s and ’00s, opened on March 29. This dealership offers a full list of cars on its website and hosts regular events. Moreover, it sells branded merchandise, including apparel and stickers.
Another exciting venture is Gracie Barra Spicewood, which opened on May 3. This establishment offers Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes for kids, teens, and adults of all skill levels, under the guidance of certified instructors, adding to the area’s fitness offerings.
National chain Miniso has launched a new location next to Abercrombie & Fitch at Barton Creek Square Mall in March, providing consumers with a selection of household and consumer products, including cosmetics, stationery, toys, and kitchenware.
Legal services in the region have expanded with the opening of Taylor Bosworth & Bullard PLLC on March 15, specializing in comprehensive estate planning, business planning, and estate administration.
Love Lamp Matcha has opened its second location on February 15, above Wanderlust Wine Co. This cafe serves a range of matcha drinks, following the success of its first location in North Austin that opened earlier this year.
Looking ahead, residents can expect Scenthound to arrive in September. This grooming service will provide basic hygiene packages, including bathing and nail trimming while offering memberships for customers to schedule monthly hygiene appointments.
Another facility, Legend Tennis Academy, will host its grand opening on May 26. Located off Crawford Road, it will feature four tennis courts and summer camps for ages 4-15 running from June 2 to August 10.
Summer will also usher in the opening of Southern Steer Butcher’s second Texas location, which will be situated in Oak Hill. The meat market is expected to offer premium meat cuts, sides, seasonings, and more.
On the horizon, First United Bank in Lakeway is undergoing renovations with an expected completion by the end of the year, enhancing its office space through a $1.5 million project that includes interior demolition, new finishes, and lighting fixtures.
There are also notable relocations, such as Lizzylu, which will move from 3300 Bee Caves Road, Ste. 240 to 3300 Bee Caves Road, Ste. 380 in West Bank Market. This decor and home goods shop is set to relocate in July.
Meanwhile, Lake Travis Crisis Ministries recently relocated from 107 RM 620 S., Unit 114, to the lower level of ACTS Church at 1304 RM 620 N. This organization intends to continue its mission of helping community members with financial assistance, operating a food pantry, and providing health care information and job openings.
In terms of expansions, St. John Neumann Catholic Church is developing a new Montessori school, set to open classrooms in January following renovations of a 2,200-square-foot building on the church’s campus.
In the realm of local news, H-E-B in Bee Cave is preparing for a new and improved gas station kiosk. The incumbent station at 12400 W. Hwy. 71 is currently under construction and will remain closed until at least the end of June, as confirmed by an H-E-B representative.
On a celebratory note, the Bee Cave Arts Foundation prepares to celebrate its 15th anniversary this August. The organization has made significant contributions to the arts in the community, including the Bee Cave Sculpture Park and Bee Cave BuzzFest.
Sadly, the Lakeway Primrose School has closed its Lakeway location early this year. Still, two other locations in the Lake Travis region, one in Bee Cave and the other in Four Points, continue to operate.
