Massachusetts National Guard Announces ‘Hometown Hero’ Contest for Local Recognition

The Massachusetts National Guard has officially announced the launch of its ‘Hometown Hero’ Contest, inviting residents to nominate local heroes who have made a significant impact in their communities.

This exciting initiative aims to recognize those individuals who embody the spirit of service and commitment to their fellow residents.

The contest will kick off on May 27, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) and will run until July 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. EST.

Participants can enter the contest by visiting the official Contest registration page at boston25news.com/wfxt/contests.

To participate, nominators must fill out the required information and upload a brief explanation detailing their nomination.

Entries must clearly state the name of the nominee and the reasons they deserve recognition as a “Hometown Hero.”

Nominators can submit an entry that consists of 500 words or less about a local resident with whom they are affiliated.

This contest is designed to highlight deserving individuals who have gone above and beyond to support their community.

Participants must be legal residents of Massachusetts, 18 years of age or older, and reside within the WFTX terrestrial viewing area.

However, employees of WFTX (Boston), LLC, CMG Media Corporation, the Massachusetts National Guard, and their affiliates are not eligible to participate.

Professional actors and filmmakers can enter the contest, provided they do not belong to any professional organizations that would require payment for participation.

An important aspect of the contest is to ensure the entries are original and adhere to legal guidelines, with no infringement on rights belonging to other entities or individuals.

Nominators must also have the express written consent of any individuals whose likeness appears in their submission.

All entries are limited to one per person and must be received by the contest end date to be considered valid.

As part of the submission, entrants agree to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Sponsor, including the acceptance of the Visitor Agreement and Privacy Policy.

The judging of the entries will commence on June 5, 2025, with selections being made each Thursday of the contest period.

A committee of qualified judges will evaluate the entries based on clarity and composition, as well as the compelling nature of the nominee’s contributions to their community.

A total of five weekly winners will be selected during the contest period.

Winners will receive recognition for their achievements during the Boston 25 News broadcast on the Friday following their selection.

Once selected, the nominator will be contacted for notification about their potential winning entry, which they must acknowledge to claim the prize.

To claim the accolade, the nominator must respond within six hours of the notification.

Each potential winner may also be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility and a liability release to finalize their submission.

Failure to comply with these requirements may result in disqualification, and a substitute winner will be selected if necessary.

All entries into the contest become the property of the Sponsor and cannot be returned following submission.

Participants should also be aware that by entering the contest, they grant permissions for the use of their submission for promotional purposes without further compensation.

Additionally, participants acknowledge that their involvement in the contest releases the Sponsor and its affiliates from liability for any claims related to participation, including personal injuries or property damage.

Furthermore, sponsors of the contest are not responsible for any entries that are lost or damaged, nor for technical malfunctions interfering with the entry process.
