The U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team is gearing up for the FIFA U-20 World Cup with an international camp scheduled from June 2-10 in Cairo, Egypt.
Under the guidance of head coach Marko Mitrović, the 22-player squad will face tough opponents Colombia on June 7 and the host nation Egypt on June 10.
This year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup is set to take place in Chile from September 27 to October 19; players born on or after January 1, 2005, are eligible to participate.
For the upcoming training camp, Coach Mitrović has selected a youthful roster that features 14 players born in 2005, six in 2006, and two in 2007.
Among the notable adjustments, defender Luca Bombino and forward Zavier Gozo were originally scheduled to participate in the U-19 MNT’s camp in Marbella, Spain but will now play with the U-20 team during the fixtures in Egypt.
The roster showcases a strong representation from Major League Soccer, with 14 clubs accounted for.
Two players hail from Atlanta United, while six players are based abroad, including talent from leagues in Spain, Denmark, England, Germany, and Portugal.

This June camp comes on the heels of a successful training stint in March, where the U-20 MNT defeated Mexico 3-0 and drew 1-1 with Japan.
In the match against Mexico, Luke Brennan scored within the first three minutes, while Kristian Fletcher secured a brace, showcasing the team’s offensive capabilities.
Although the U.S. fell behind in their game against Japan, they demonstrated resilience by leveling the match 1-1.
Notably, a core group of ten players from this camp contributed to the USA’s U-20 World Cup qualification, securing second place at the 2024 Concacaf U-20 Championship in Mexico.
These players include Luca Bombino, Noah Cobb, Zavier Gozo, and others who will carry valuable experience into the upcoming matches in Cairo.
In terms of international experience, several players on the roster have already represented the United States on significant platforms.
Matthew Corcoran, Taha Habroune, and Pedro Soma were part of the U.S. squad at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, where they made strides towards the knockout stage.
Adding to their accolades, players including Nolan Norris and Sergio Oregel Jr. showcased their skills at the 2023 PanAmerican Games, contributing to the team’s impressive fourth-place finish, marking the USA’s best performance since 1999.
As the U-20 MNT prepares for their matches in Egypt, expectations are high for the emerging talents to perform on a global stage.
