This summer, Seattle’s culinary scene is set to expand with an exciting lineup of restaurant openings catering to a variety of tastes.
Among the new entrants is an English pub, the brainchild of Kevin Smith, owner of Beast and Cleaver, located in Ballard.
The pub will feature traditional fare such as meat pies, sausage rolls, and classic Sunday roasts, all crafted with ingredients from freshly butchered animals.
For those with a penchant for Southern cuisine, Zax Eat ‘N Three is opening its doors on Aurora.
This takeout spot will offer unique dishes like smoked chicken paired with Alabama white sauce and an array of veggie sides, along with delightful ice box cakes for dessert.
On the waterfront in Ballard, Happy Crab is anticipated to attract seafood lovers with its Cajun-style seafood boils and hand-pulled noodles.
Owned by Lily Wu, Happy Crab also boasts a flagship restaurant that promises to be the perfect summer dining experience.
Another notable addition is Spinnaker in Fremont, well-known for its artisan chocolates.
The Arsdale brothers are expanding their operation to include a cafe within their new chocolate factory, which is set to open on the 28th.
This new cafe will not only serve drinks made with Spinnaker’s single-origin chocolate but also offer factory tours and chocolates for purchase.
In the spirit of introducing diverse cuisines, the upcoming Pidgin Cooperative is a worker-owned restaurant concept from the Pacleb brothers, who have spent years honing their craft at farmers markets with their Ramen and Tacos stand.
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Pidgin is taking over the space formerly occupied by Highliner Public House, with an aim to open in the summer.
Though the menu hasn’t been finalized, diners can expect ramen along with pub fare favorites like fried chicken sandwiches and fish & chips, all crafted with a focus on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.
Additionally, Amin, a long-anticipated halal walk-up window by chef Tarik Abdullah, will serve flatbreads and small plates.
Abdullah’s offerings will reflect the diverse cultural influences he experienced growing up in South Seattle and are expected to resonate with the community he has long served through Feed the People, a kitchen dedicated to providing food and training for youth.
As these new restaurants prepare to open their doors, diners in Seattle will have an array of exciting dining options to look forward to, showcasing both familiar comfort foods and innovative dishes inspired by various culinary traditions.
With the promise of flavorful experiences, this summer is shaping up to be one of the most delectable seasons for food lovers in the city.
