Mass Protests Erupt Across the U.S. Against President Trump on National Day of Demonstrations

Massive crowds filled the streets, parks, and plazas across the United States on Saturday as part of the “No Kings” protests against President Donald Trump.

Demonstrators rallied in hundreds of venues, chanting for democracy, immigrant rights, and against authoritarianism.

Organizers estimated millions participated, and governors across the country called for calm, deploying National Guard troops in anticipation of the gatherings.

While most protests were peaceful, isolated incidents of confrontation occurred.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro acknowledged over 100,000 peaceful participants in the Commonwealth, emphasizing the importance of civil discourse.

“Our democracy was born here in Pennsylvania — and over the last two and a half centuries we’ve made progress by lifting up our voices in order to build a more just and free nation,” he stated, highlighting the role of peaceful protest in the nation’s history.

Concerns mounted in cities like Los Angeles and Portland, where police resorted to tear gas and crowd-control measures to disperse crowds following the formal events.

In Salt Lake City, Utah, a shooting incident left one person critically injured, with police investigating whether it was politically motivated.

Video footage captured the chaos as demonstrators fled upon hearing gunfire.

Despite these events, crowds remained large and vibrant, marching in cities including New York, Denver, Chicago, and Austin.

Atlanta’s protest quickly reached capacity, and Seattle officials estimated over 70,000 attendees participated in their rally downtown as reported by the Seattle Times.

While President Trump was in Washington for a military parade celebrating the Army’s 250th anniversary, his presence seemed to spark an even greater reaction from protesters.

In Logan Circle, protesters gathered to chant
