Upcoming Author Events in Boston: July 7-12

Literature enthusiasts in and around Boston have a splendid lineup of author appearances scheduled from July 7 to July 12.

These events range from discussions and readings to online conversations, catering to a variety of literary interests.

On Monday, July 7, Christopher Shaw Myers will delve into his book “Robert Shaw: An Actor’s Life on the Set of JAWS and Beyond” at Harvard Book Store at 7 p.m.

At the same time, Casey Sherman is set to discuss “Blood in the Water” at Olde Colonial Courthouse, hosted by Titcomb’s Bookshop. Tickets for this event are priced at $15 for non-members.

Mary Alice Monroe will also discuss her book, “Where the Rivers Merge,” at 7 p.m. at An Unlikely Story with a ticket price of $5.

On Tuesday, July 8, several notable authors will take the stage. Brian C. Black will be in conversation with Ted Widmer regarding his book “Ike’s Road Trip” at 6 p.m. via an online platform hosted by American Ancestors, with tickets at $12.50.

Clémence Michallon’s book “Our Last Resort” will be the focus of her conversation with Caroline Kepnes at 7 p.m. at Brookline Booksmith, and attendance requires an RSVP.

Peter Swanson will also discuss his latest work, “Kill Your Darlings: A Novel,” at Harvard Book Store at 7 p.m.

Additionally, Claire Jia will be in conversation with Elizabeth Santiago at 7 p.m. about her book “Wanting,” to be held at Porter Square Books: Cambridge. RSVP is required.

Another event on Tuesday includes Tracy Slater, who will read from her book “Together in Manzanar” at Newtonville Books at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, July 9, Christopher Shaw Myers returns to discuss his work at 6:30 p.m. at Old Town Hall, once again hosted by Titcomb’s Bookshop, and RSVP is necessary for attendance.

Aymann Ismail’s book “Becoming Baba” will be discussed at 7 p.m. at Brookline Booksmith, also requiring RSVP.

A reading featuring Jiwon Choi, Frances Donovan, and Gloria A. Monaghan, along with introduction by Eileen Cleary and Mark Pawlak, will occur at 7 p.m. at Grolier Poetry Book Shop and on Zoom. Tickets for in-person attendance are $10.

Molly Beer will also present her book, “Angelica: For Love and Country in a Time of Revolution,” at 7 p.m. at Harvard Book Store.

Finally, Paul Doiron will discuss his book “Skin and Bones” at 7 p.m. at Porter Square Books: Cambridge, with an RSVP required.

Thursday, July 10 features an intriguing discussion as Bob Sykora speaks about his book “Utopians in Love” at 6 p.m. at East End Books, Boston Seaport, where tickets are $6.24.

Tim Weed will also be present, conversing with Julie Carrick Dalton about “The Afterlife Project” at 7 p.m. at Belmont Books.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Tiang will engage with Dorothy Tse regarding his work “State of Emergency” at Brookline Booksmith at 7 p.m. with RSVP required.

Additionally, Anne Whitney Pierce will discuss “There But for Grace” at 7 p.m. at Harvard Book Store.

Mary Jo Bang, who translated “Paradiso,” will be in conversation with Stephanie Burt at Porter Square Books: Cambridge at 7 p.m., requiring RSVP for attendance.

Lastly, Jennifer Dugan will engage with Rory Power about “Summer Girls” at 7 p.m. at An Unlikely Story, with a $5 ticket admission.

On Friday, July 11, Ruth Ware will be in conversation with Hank Phillippi Ryan at 6:30 p.m. at An Unlikely Story about her book “The Woman in Suite 11,” with the overflow audience admitted at $34.46, including a copy of the book.

Anu Kandikuppa will rounds off the week sharing insights on “The Confines” at Belmont Books at 7 p.m.

This author series continues on Saturday, July 12, as David Denby discusses his book “Eminent Jews” at 6 p.m. at East End Books, Provincetown, with tickets available for $6.24.
