Exciting Events in Los Angeles: From Art Fundraisers to Culinary Delights

Los Angeles is buzzing with a variety of events this week, featuring art, music, comedy, and unique culinary experiences.

In a creative display of artistic expression, Pasadena Humane recently held a fundraiser that invited nearly 450 people across the country to create their own interpretations of pets in a competition dubbed “pet-traits.”

This initiative not only highlights the charm of creativity devoid of exceptional art skills but also supports the organization’s vital work following the devastating Eaton Fire.

LAist has showcased some of the most delightful and amusing works from the fundraiser, proving that talent can come in all forms.

In addition to the pet-themed fundraiser, LAist is also paying tribute to screen legend Robert Redford, previewing the most anticipated new fall TV shows, and providing details on how to obtain tickets for the upcoming 2028 Olympic Games.

As part of the upcoming events, here’s what to look forward to this week:

On Tuesday, September 23, at 7:30 p.m., the Camerata Pacifica opens its concert season at The Huntington’s Rothenberg Hall.

The concert will feature works from renowned composers, including Anton Arensky’s “String Quartet No. 2 in A Minor, Op. 35,” a contemporary piece by Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks, and Johannes Brahms’ “Sextet for Strings No. 2 in G Major, Op. 36.”

Aiming to make chamber music more accessible, the concert will showcase musicians Paul Huang, Alena Hove, Che-Yen Chen, Meredith Crawford, Ani Aznavoorian, and Santiago Cañon-Valencia.

From September 25-28, art lovers can attend The Other Art Fair held at Barker Hanger in Santa Monica.

This event is not just about viewing art but promises an immersive experience filled with music from KCRW’s Dan Wilcox, new works from both familiar and undiscovered artists, and unique activities such as chakra tune-ups, sound baths, and tea leaf readings.

Whether you’re looking to expand your art collection or simply enjoy the eclectic ambiance, The Other Art Fair offers something for everyone over its jam-packed weekend.

For those who enjoy comedy, the “Abbot Kidding” series continues this Thursday, September 25, at 8 p.m. at Roosterfish in Venice.

The charming venue transforms its back patio into a unique comedy club every week, featuring a mix of performers from across television and social media platforms.

It’s an ideal relaxed atmosphere for a date night, with the potential for surprise guest appearances adding an extra thrill to the evening.

Through Sunday, October 5, the Pasadena Playhouse is showcasing “Eureka Day,” a topical comedy that tackles the challenges of getting parents at a progressive Berkeley school to agree on a vaccination policy.

Written by Tony-winning playwright Jonathan Spector, the play cleverly reflects contemporary societal dilemmas and is bound to elicit laughter and perhaps tears as well.

Additionally, on Wednesday, September 24, at 7 p.m., the Skirball Cultural Center will host chefs Bridget Lancaster and Julia Collin Davison from America’s Test Kitchen for a book launch event.

Audiences can expect an engaging evening filled with live cooking demonstrations, discussions on kitchen essentials, and a chance to participate directly in the cooking process.

This event also doubles as a donation to PBS SoCal, making it as beneficial to the community as it is delicious.

Art enthusiasts can enjoy the exhibit “In Bloom: Flowers in Contemporary Art” at the Forest Lawn Museum, running through Sunday, February 15, 2026.

Exploring various artistic interpretations of flowers, this exhibit showcases works from contemporary artists such as David Flores, DABSMYLA, Francesca Gabbiani, and more.

Ranging from realistic paintings to abstract installations and video art, this exhibit captures the diverse beauty and symbolism of flowers through the lens of modern creativity.

The Academy Museum is also hosting “Jaws: The Exhibition,” a massive retrospective celebrating the iconic film’s 50th anniversary.

Running through Sunday, July 26, 2026, the exhibit features a collection of artifacts and insights into the making of the legendary movie, with the spotlight on the most famous shark in cinematic history.

For film buffs, don’t miss the chance to catch “Apollo 13” in IMAX through Thursday, September 25.

This 30th-anniversary screening offers an opportunity to relive Ron Howard’s Oscar-winning masterpiece that showcases ingenuity and resilience amidst crises.

Food lovers can indulge in special deals as well.

On Tuesday, September 23, Pasta Sisters is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a special pricing of its classic Tomato & Basil with Spaghetti for just $8, harking back to the pricing at its opening.

Additionally, Pasta Sisters has launched a happy hour at the Culver City location, featuring various affordable drinks and tasty bites.

On the same day, wine aficionados can participate in a tasting event showcasing the incredible wines of Georgia, the country, not the state, at The Shay in Culver City from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This special event includes a Q&A session with Phil Rosenthal and award-winning wine personality Vince Anter, focused on the wines featured in a recent episode of Rosenthal’s show, “Somebody Feed Phil.”

Thursday, September 25, marks National Lobster Day, and Luke’s Lobster is celebrating the occasion with a special deal on lobster rolls for just $20.

These delicious quarter-pound rolls, served with chips and a soft drink, are available at all Luke’s locations, including their new Newport Beach spot.

With so many exciting activities and events taking place across Los Angeles, there’s no shortage of opportunities to engage with art, music, food, and community.

Whether you’re an art aficionado, a comedy lover, or a cuisine explorer, this week promises to have something that piques your interest.
