World Premiere of Marga Gomez’s ‘Spanish Stew’ at New Conservatory Theatre Center

The New Conservatory Theatre Center (NCTC) is excited to announce the World Premiere of Marga Gomez’s autobiographical play, titled ‘Spanish Stew.’ Directed by Richard A. Mosqueda, this flavor-packed production aims to deliver a bold and fresh queer theatre experience.

Set to run from October 17th through November 23rd, 2025, ‘Spanish Stew’ follows the journey of young Marga, who escapes her New York home for the vibrant city of San Francisco in 1976. Outed by her flamboyant mother, Marga embarks on a journey that intertwines love and survival, all while working at a restaurant where she is tasked with recreating a cherished family recipe. This dish becomes a symbol of connection to her roots and her queer, punk, avant-garde community in San Francisco.

Tickets for ‘Spanish Stew’ are priced between $35.50 and $72.50 and include all fees. NCTC’s 2025-26 Season Subscribers can avail themselves of discounts. Tickets can be purchased through the NCTC website, by emailing [email protected], or by calling (415) 861-8972.

In addition to the main performance, several special events will take place throughout the run of the show, including:

– Preview performances from October 17 to October 24, featuring limited discounted tickets.

– The Opening Night event scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2025.

– A Post-Show Discussion on Sunday, November 2, where the cast will engage in a conversation moderated by the director.

– A pre-show event titled ‘Pregame: Salsa Scene,’ which invites attendees to learn the basics of Salsa Suelta, taking place on Wednesday evenings with the help of Dance Mission.

– ‘Queeries,’ a Post Show Discussion featuring Marga Gomez and director Richard A. Mosqueda, will also happen after the performance on Sunday, November 2.
