Exciting Live Music Events in Los Angeles: September 30 – October 5

Los Angeles is bursting with an array of incredible live music this week, offering something for every music lover. Grimy Goods has expertly curated a selection of shows that highlight artists making a significant impact, often in intimate settings rather than just the larger venues.

Kamasi Washington, an influential figure in jazz and experimental music, will be performing two shows each night at Blue Note Los Angeles from September 30 to October 5. Concertgoers can immerse themselves in Washington’s unique sound at both 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. during this highly anticipated run.

On September 30, the Teragram Ballroom will feature a diverse lineup including Osees, Brigid Dawson, DREAM_MEGA, and Sunday Mourners, ensuring a vibrant mix of sounds.

The Greek Theatre will also host the legendary Sparks on the same evening, promising a memorable performance.

On October 1, the punk scene will be represented by Lambrini Girls, who will take the stage at The Regent, with Edging providing support. Additionally, Brazilian rock legends Os Mutantes will bring their experimental tropicalia sounds to The Paramount in Boyle Heights on October 1, with Levitation Room also in the lineup.

Music enthusiasts can also catch Laveda and No Swoon at Permanent Records Roadhouse on October 1, and on October 2, The Chameleons and The Veldt will perform at The Belasco.

Simultaneously, Madison McFerrin and Camille Trust will showcase their talents at The Roxy, while Zebulon will host Mark Guiliana, Jeff Parker, Stu Brooks, and Jonathan Huber.

The popular Maruja will perform at the El Rey Theatre on October 2.

One of the standout events this week is Model/Actriz’s performance at the Fonda Theatre on October 3, supported by Ayegy. This show promises an engaging blend of noise rock and post-punk elements.

Meanwhile, at the prestigious Walt Disney Concert Hall, Ledisi will delight audiences with her new album, which pays homage to “The Queen of the Blues,” Dinah Washington, also taking place on October 3.

That same night, L7, known for their grunge and punk rock sound, will take over The Belasco with opening acts Lunachicks and CSS.

Erykah Badu will be gracing the Hollywood Bowl on October 3, bringing her iconic neo-soul and R&B performances to the stage, supported by Westside Gunn.

October 3 will also feature Polo & Pan at Kia Forum, while Scribble hosts an exciting lineup of Open Mike Eagle, Whitmer Thomas, and DJ Douggpound, and Zebulon welcomes The Legendary Pink Dots alongside Orbit Service.

On October 4, the Lodge Room will host Princess Nokia with special guest Felukah, adding an alternative hip hop flair to the evening. Also on October 4, Turnstile is set for a sold-out performance at Exposition Park, featuring Amyl and The Sniffers, Speed, and Jane Remover as opening acts, while Perfume Genius takes the stage at The Ford with Baths.

For those interested in more obscure artists, Blue Hawaii, Yune Pinku, and SoFTT will perform at Don Quixote on October 4. That evening, Acid Mothers Temple, The Melting Paraiso U.F.O., and The Macks will perform at Zebulon.

Wrapping up the week, pop sensation Dua Lipa will take the stage at Kia Forum for two nights from October 4-5, alongside CIL, extracting the energy of contemporary pop music.

Music lovers in Los Angeles are sure to enjoy a week filled with unforgettable performances from both established and emerging artists.
