On Monday, LA Synth Club kicks off the week with its monthly meet-up and jam session at Common Space Brewery in Hawthorne from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Following a Labor Day break, musicians are encouraged to bring their synthesizers and electronic instruments to collaborate and experiment in a friendly setting.

Meanwhile, in Downtown Long Beach, Dance Revolution is set for Tuesday evening, September 9. The Downtown Long Beach Alliance will host a free line dancing tutorial and dance party on the promenade between The Ordinarie Tavern and ISM Brewing from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This event embraces community engagement through dance and movement.

On Wednesday, music enthusiasts can head to the Hollywood Bowl for Black Movie Soundtrack V. This event celebrates the rich history of music from iconic black films and features performances honoring Quincy Jones and Prince, alongside DJ D-Nice. An impressive live performance by Sinners’ Miles Caton is included, with tickets available starting at just $12.

Concurrently, movie buffs can attend Classic Cinema Nights at the Hollywood Roosevelt, where Casablanca will take center stage. The event, hosted by film critic and wine maker José Ignacio Cuenca, begins at 7 p.m. and includes a complimentary glass of wine from Little Boat winery for ticket holders, who can purchase tickets starting at $22.09.

Also on Wednesday, experience The Nikaido Experience at Prank Bar, showcasing a unique culinary evening featuring Nikaido Shochu cocktails and bites from several esteemed restaurants. Tickets for this immersive experience, which also includes music from DJ Tsugu, are priced at $35 online or $40 at the door.

For dance lovers, the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach offers a Bachata dance class on Wednesday evening, accessible to all skill levels. Tickets for this event are $20, and space is limited, emphasizing the opportunity for personal interaction and learning.

Thursday brings Autry After Hours, where visitors can explore the museum after hours, attend live talks, and participate in special events. This week’s offering features the SAG-AFTRA Radio Players presenting old-time radio performances in the Autry plaza, with admission set at $19 for adults.

From Friday to Sunday, the Pacific Opera Project presents Pagliacci at Heritage Square. This immersive opera experience is part of their 15th Anniversary season opener and promises a captivating afternoon with live orchestral accompaniment amidst the historic setting. Tickets for this unique event begin at $15.

That same Friday is the highly anticipated Oktoberfest at Ivy Station Night Market, running from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. This month’s market embraces the festive spirit of Oktoberfest with various pop-up vendors, delectable food and beer selections, interactive games, and live polka music, all free to attend.

Additionally, Summer of Salsa at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes marks the final monthly dance party of the summer on Friday evening. This closing event features salsa band Conjunto Oye! and Super DJ Robby, along with free salsa dance classes from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. All attendees are invited to join in on the vibrant salsa dancing, also free.

The Hola México Film Festival makes its return this Friday, showcasing the largest Mexican Film Festival outside of México. Held at various venues like the Montalbán Theater and Regal Cinemas LA LIVE, the festival runs through September 21, providing a significant platform for Mexican filmmakers and their stories.

Additionally, the Manhattan Beach Food & Wine Festival will take place over the weekend, bringing together culinary delights from top chefs and restaurants. Each night of the festival will feature premier wineries and craft breweries alongside live entertainment. General admission tickets start at $199.33 and VIP tickets at $299.44.

In terms of dining experiences, there are several notable offerings throughout the week. On September 10 and 24, the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center will transform its garden into an Izakaya Sunsets lounge. Chef Gary Matsumoto will serve a special menu centered on grilled items, pairing well with beer, sake, and shochu. Each reservation requires a $5 fee, and guests will receive a complimentary dish with their first order.

Starting September 12 at Flavors From Afar, Chef Louie Chavez will unveil a Native American dinner menu deeply rooted in his Navajo and Apache heritage. This menu will feature a variety of traditional dishes and is served every Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

For a sweet treat, Magnolia Bakery is collaborating with Hawaiian Host to introduce a limited-time Ube Cupcake from September 9-14 at its West Hollywood location. This exclusive cupcake, inspired by Hawaiian Host’s Ube White Chocolate Macadamias, incorporates a fluffy ube base, halaya filling, swirled ube buttercream, and a chocolate-covered macadamia on top, priced at $4.25.
