Exciting Upcoming Events in Dallas: July through September 2023

As summer heats up in Dallas, several events are lined up that promise excitement, community engagement, and fun for all ages, particularly within the LGBTQ community.

One of the standout events is ‘Fireworks on the Fairway,’ set to take place on July 4 at Omni PGA Frisco. This celebration, running from 6-10 p.m., features live music by Downtown Fever, food trucks, carnival games, face painting, a spectacular drone show, and a dazzling fireworks finale.

Every Wednesday, the Resource Center hosts THRIVE, a supportive gathering for LGBTQ adults aged 50 and older. The group meets from 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. at the Resource Center Community Center located at 5750 Cedar Springs Road. Led by interns from the SMU counseling program, this group offers a safe and welcoming space. For more details, interested individuals can email [email protected].

Following the holiday festivities, the Art Centre Theatre in Plano will present ‘Golden Girls’ from July 7 to July 20. Tickets and showtimes can be found at ArtCentreTheatre.com.

On July 8, Family Equality will host a virtual reading and discussion focusing on ‘Boyhood Reimagined: Stories of Queer Moms Raising Sons.’ This event includes a local gathering from 5-6 p.m. with the main reading and discussion from 6-7 p.m. Participation is free, although registration at TinyURL.com/mrxmps4z is required.

July 11 marks Dtown Bear Night at the Dallas Eagle, featuring DJ Blaine from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. and no cover charge. Free parking will also be available. More details can be found on the event’s Facebook page.

A town hall discussion, ‘Meet Your Friendly Neighborhood Transfolk,’ is scheduled for July 12 from 4-6 p.m. at Sue Ellen’s, 3014 Throckmorton St. Hosted by Equality Texas, this conversation aims to foster community dialogue and can be found at EqualityTexas.org for registration information.

Later that evening, Gear Night with DJ Tristan Jaxx will take over the Dallas Eagle from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., also with no cover charge and free parking available.

On July 15, the Stonewall Democrats of Dallas will hold their general meeting at the Rose Room at S4, running from 6:30-8 p.m. Interested parties can RSVP at StonewallDemocratsOfDallas.com.

Also on July 15, Up & Out will provide a platform for LGBTQIA+ caregivers to connect during their monthly Zoom meeting from 6-7:30 p.m. Led by A. Beth Jackson, MS, LMFT associate, and supervised by Nicole Vargass, PhD, LMFY-S, registration is required via email at [email protected] or by calling 214-823-5700.

Prepare for a festive spirit at Gaybingo: Christmas in July on July 19, hosted by the Resource Center at S4. This event will take place from 6-9 p.m. Tickets and additional information are available on MyResourceCenter.org.

August promises more community fun with the Cedar Springs Wine Walk on August 7, where attendees can enjoy wine samples while shopping along Cedar Springs. The event starts at 6 p.m. in front of Round-Up Saloon with collectible wine glasses available for purchase.

From August 9-10, Uptown Players and Bruce Wood Dance will come together for an engaging performance titled ‘Imagine’ at the Kalita Humphreys Theater. Tickets and further details can be found at UptownPlayers.org.

The Turtle Creek Chorale will present ‘Guys & Dolls’ from August 15-17 at Moody Performance Hall, with ticket information available at TurtleCreekChorale.com.

Gaybingo: Galaxy Glam will return on August 16, hosted by the Resource Center at S4, running from 6-9 p.m. Details and tickets can be found on MyResourceCenter.org.

The Stonewall Democrats will again convene for their general meeting on August 19, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Rose Room in S4, and reservations can be made at StonewallDemocratsOfDallas.com.

As summer draws to a close, attendees can look forward to ‘An Evening with Bernadette Peters and the Plano Symphony Orchestra’ on August 30 at the Meyerson Symphony Center, starting at 7:30 p.m. Ticket information is available at PlanoSymphony.org.

In September, the Cedar Springs Wine Walk will repeat on September 4, providing another stellar evening of wine sampling along Cedar Springs.

On September 13, Texas Latino Pride will host its annual Pride festival at Reverchon Park from 3-10 p.m. More details can be found at TxLatinoPride.org.

Another general meeting of the Stonewall Democrats will take place on September 16 at S4 from 6:30-8 p.m.

The Turtle Creek Chorale is set to present ‘Groundless Ground’ on September 17 at the Meyerson Symphony Center, starting at 7:30 p.m.

On September 20, the Resource Center will host Gaybingo: Game On at S4 from 6-9 p.m. Tickets and details are available on MyResourceCenter.org.

Additionally, the Turtle Creek Chorale will hold its annual benefit gala, Rhapsody 2025, at The Statler on September 20. Tickets will go on sale in January, with information forthcoming.

The Human Rights Campaign will organize the 28th Annual Fairway to Equality Golf Weekend at Cedar Crest Golf Course on September 20, taking place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Further details and tickets can be found at Dfw.Hrc.org.

Finally, the highly anticipated 2025 Pride in Dallas Parade will take place on September 21 at 2 p.m., featuring a celebration along Cedar Springs. More information can be obtained through PrideInDallas.org.
