New Yorkers Brace for Another Cold Snap as Spring Weather Turns Chilly

New Yorkers finally got to experience some pleasant Spring weather on Monday as temperatures soared to as high as 70F.

After a cold snap saw at least a week of frosty temperatures and even a downpour of snow in some regions, the warmer weather was very much welcomed, but unfortunately, it was short-lived.

A cold front tracking Northeast is likely to bring a return to more winter-like conditions over the next couple of days.

Showers, thunderstorms, and hail are all possible, as well as some more snow in some areas.

Forecasters warn that residents could face hazardous conditions due to high winds, which will make temperatures even cooler.

It’s not all bad news, as the latest cold sweep is set to lose its grip by the time that Easter rolls around, which could see a return to more mild and sunny weather.

A fresh surge of cold air is heading from southern Canada into the Northeast as parts of the region will experience chilly weather for a couple of days.

The cold sweep will also bring rain showers and some wet snow to the interior Northeast, according to AccuWeather.

For Tuesday, a passing front will bring some showers into the early morning hours, then mainly dry and mild conditions expected through mid-afternoon,” the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

The forecaster adds: “It will become windy by late afternoon as a cold front moves through, with west winds gusting to 30-40 mph.

The front may produce some showers and possibly a thunderstorm, some of which may produce locally stronger wind gusts as high as 50 mph.

Dry and brisk conditions will follow for Wednesday as high pressure builds from the west.”

Factoring in the cool winds, AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures will range from the widespread 20s and 30s F in the Northeast.

In New York City, temperatures will remain warm at 66F on Monday, but it will be “increasingly windy with more clouds than sun,” followed by a “thundershower” in the afternoon that could be accompanied by gusty winds and hail.

By Wednesday, temperatures will drop to highs of 51F.

Albany will experience a similar pattern with possible thunderstorms on Tuesday afternoon and highs of 62F, while Wednesday will drop to highs of 44F and lows of 33F.

Syracuse will experience a small amount of snow on Tuesday morning as well as a windy and cooler day with thunderstorms possible and highs of 53F.

Wednesday will bring a couple of snow showers to the region, with highs of 41F and lows of 33F.

In Rochester, it will also be cooler on Tuesday with highs of 50F and lows of 32F.

Temperatures will dip again on Wednesday to highs of 41F and lows of 32F, with a couple of morning snow flurries expected.

Temperatures will remain mild for most of Tuesday, but the new cold outbreak is expected to reach its people on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

When temperatures will drop significantly across the state, gusty winds will begin on Tuesday afternoon at around 2 p.m., with thunderstorms also possible.

The fresh cold snap will only last a couple of days, later in the week conditions will become more spring-like as mild temperatures make a return.
