Upcoming LGBTQ Events and Activities in Dallas-Fort Worth Area

A variety of events are scheduled in the Dallas-Fort Worth area throughout April, catering to the LGBTQ community and its allies.

The Greg Dollgener Memorial AIDS Fund will host the “MetroBall Day at the Casino” bus trip to WinStar Casino on Saturday, April 19. The bus will depart at 8:30 a.m. from Sue Ellen’s, located at 3014 Throckmorton St.

For those looking to stay active, the Frontrunners running club invites LGBTQ runners and allies to meet every Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. and Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the corner of Hall Street and Turtle Creek Boulevard in Turtle Creek Park. This club focuses on a one-hour walk or run on the Katy Trail.

Art enthusiasts can enjoy Ted Kincaid’s exhibit, “Towards a Queer Trancendance,” on display through April 19 at Liliana Bloch Gallery, located at 4741 Memphis St.

On Saturday, April 19, the Resource Center will host its monthly Gaybingo event titled “Drag Queens & Dragons” from 6-9 p.m. at S4, 3911 Cedar Springs Road. Tickets and more information can be found in the Events section of MyResourceCenter.org.

Also on April 19 is the MetroBall Day at the Casino, where attendees will join GDMAF for a day trip to WinStar Casino, 777 Casino Ave. in Thackerville, OK. More details can be found at GDMAF.org.

In Plano, Equality Texas and GALA will host a postcard party at FIZZ, located at 3310 Dallas Parkway, from 2-4 p.m. This event, aimed at all ages, encourages participants to write postcards advocating for LGBTQ rights. RSVPs can be made at Bit.Ly/PlanoPostcard.

The Gay & Lesbian Fund for Dallas will hold a benefit for the Dallas Zoo at Flutter & Fizz from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on April 19. More information and tickets can be found at GLFD.org.

For theater lovers, “Jekyll & Hyde” will be showcased by Lyric Stage Studio through April 19 at the Lyric Stage Studio Theatre, located at 1170 Quaker St. Tickets and further details are available at LyricStage.org.

Also on April 20, the FURBALL Dallas Rise Tea Dance hosted by Joe Fiore will take place from 5-10 p.m. at S4. This underwear and gear party features music by DJ Liza Rodriguez and is limited to attendees ages 21 and older. Tickets are available at TicketLeap.com.

Tyler Area Gays will hold their monthly women’s social dinner at Bubbas 33 in Tyler at 6 p.m. on April 22. Participants can find more information at TylerAreaGays.com.

Hopeful Spaces will meet virtually on April 22 from 6-7 p.m. This support group for raising LGBTQIA+ youth, part of Hopeful Discussions, is presented by Dallas Hope Charities and sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Financial Services. Registration can be completed at DallasHopeCharities.com.

The Thin Line Fest will run from April 23-27 in Downtown Denton, featuring documentary films, music, and photography. Interested parties can find further information and register at ThinLine.us.

On April 24, the National Black Trans Advocacy Conference will host a keynote address and luncheon from 12-1:15 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Duncanville. Registration can be done through the event page on Purplepass.com.

The Breaking the Binary Fashion Show presented by OUTLaw is set for April 25 from 6-8 p.m. at UNT Dallas College of Law. Individual tickets are priced at $25.
