The Park District’s beloved Movies in the Parks program is making its comeback this summer, kicking off its 21st season. The initiative aims to bring cinematic experiences closer to home, allowing Chicagoans to enjoy films under the stars.
Starting from June 10 and running until September 13, a wide array of films will be screened in parks across the city, featuring everything from timeless Hollywood classics to popular family-friendly hits. Moviegoers can look forward to recent blockbusters like “Mufasa: The Lion King,” “Moana 2,” and “Twisters,” alongside popular classics such as “The Goonies,” “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial,” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
Each movie screening will commence at dusk, creating an inviting atmosphere for families and friends to gather. Chicagoans are encouraged to call 312-742-1134 for daily listings and updates regarding any weather-related cancellations.
While attending the screenings, it’s worth noting that park field houses and restrooms may not be accessible. Residents with questions or concerns are advised to reach out to their local park supervisor prior to the movie night.
For those residing or visiting Downtown, special movie screenings will occur at Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. from July 1 to August 19. The specific movie lineup for these Downtown screenings has not yet been announced, but attendees can enjoy the pavilion seating or lounge on the grassy lawn area.
