New Highland Park Mansion Listed at $34.5 Million

A new luxury home has entered the market in Highland Park, listed for a staggering $34.5 million, positioning it among the highest-priced properties for sale in Texas.

Situated at 4400 Belfort Place, this Spanish revival and Mediterranean-style mansion spans an impressive 13,696 square feet and aims to reflect the architectural charm of Highland Park from the 1920s.

The property is the brainchild of developer Blair Pogue, a Highland Park native, who sought to create a residence that would enhance the neighborhood in which he grew up.

Douglas Newby, the property’s real estate agent, explains, “He wanted to specifically design a home that would contribute to the architectural landscape of Highland Park and Dallas.

He continues to add things that enhance the home, and that’s a totally different approach than we’ve seen of any of the homes that are built for resale in Highland Park.”

The mansion is set on a rare 1-acre plot in Highland Park, an area that boasts only 36 such sizable lots.

As Newby points out, nearly all of these plots either feature existing large homes or are occupied by historic properties that have undergone extensive renovations, making this newly constructed mansion a unique offering.

“There’s still the possibility that you can tear down two or three houses to get a big lot, but to get a natural lot [like this one] is virtually impossible,” Newby stated.

He emphasized that replicating this home is not feasible in the current market climate.

The property features five bedrooms in total, with a luxurious primary suite located on the first floor.

This suite includes a sitting area, a marble fireplace, two spacious walk-in closets, and sweeping views of the garden located at the back of the house.

On the second floor, three of the four additional bedrooms are designed with their own balconies, providing a private outdoor escape.

The kitchen is outfitted with high-end finishes, showcasing Moroccan artisan tiles, quartzite countertops, and Calcutta marble, which contribute to the home’s opulent aesthetic.

Notably, the kitchen also includes a porte-cochere side entrance with lockers, a powder bathroom, a service kitchen, a butler’s pantry, and staff stairs leading to the second level.

Throughout the home, several stained glass windows complement the marble and wood fixtures, enriching its historical ambiance.

The first floor also features a library that overlooks the front of the property, merging comfort with practicality.

The upper level includes a playroom located at the back of the house, making it a family-friendly space.

Additionally, the lower level offers a fitness room, wine cellar, tasting room, and several lounge bars—ideal for both relaxation and entertainment.

The backyard is designed for leisure, boasting a loggia, a swimming pool, and an open-air pool house, accompanied by a beautifully landscaped garden.

Accessibility is further enhanced by a private entrance off Armstrong Parkway that leads to a motor court featuring four garage bays.

Above the garage, there is a guest apartment equipped with a bedroom and kitchenette, providing privacy for visitors.

Architecturally, this home melds historical allure with modern Spanish revival touches, set within a primarily Georgian and Colonial neighborhood.

In Newby’s words, “This home has all the advantages of a historic home and all the freshness and luxury of a brand new home.”

The property, which Pogue acquired for $9 million in 2021, has been under construction since 2022 and is now ready to welcome its new owners after nearly four years of meticulous development.
