CHICAGO— Ribfest Chicago is back to celebrate its 25th anniversary, transforming the streets around Lincoln, Damen, and Irving Park Rd. into a BBQ paradise from June 6 to June 8.
The festival will kick off on Friday, June 6, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and continue from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8. This year, the event is proudly sponsored by Sweet Baby Ray’s, which is itself celebrating 40 years of delicious barbecue sauces deeply rooted in Chicago.
Attendees can expect an array of delectable ribs from top BBQ vendors, competing for two coveted titles: the People’s Choice award, determined by attendees through a QR code voting system, and the Best of Ribfest award, judged by a panel of celebrity judges.
Noted vendors include Armadillo’s BBQ, Aussom Aussie BBQ, Austin Texas Lightning, Baby Gold BBQ, Big City BBQ, Chicago BBQ Company, Lexington Betty Smokehouse, Mr. Greens BBQ, Salt Creek BBQ, Johnson’s BBQ Ribs, and Robinson’s #1 Ribs, with each offering their signature racks of ribs and sides.
Adding to the flavor of the fest is the return of daily whiskey and bourbon tastings, where attendees can sample up to 16 local and international whiskies. Interested participants can reserve their spots in advance for this unique experience.
The festival is also family-friendly, featuring an expanded kids’ area equipped with inflatables and games designed to entertain younger attendees.
For those looking for an added touch of luxury, VIP Passes are available. VIP ticket holders will gain access to a special lounge tent complete with private seating, restrooms, charging stations, swag bags, drink tickets, and more.
As one of Chicago’s most anticipated summer events, Ribfest Chicago draws BBQ enthusiasts from all around to relish in great food and vibrant music. A $10 suggested donation at the entry gate will support the Northcenter community, with proceeds directed toward local schools, nonprofit organizations, and initiatives that promote economic development and environmental greening efforts.
“We are so excited to be hosting the 25th anniversary of this amazing fest,” remarked Eileen Keleghan, Executive Director for the Northcenter Chamber of Commerce. “To date, the fest has provided nearly $400,000 in direct funding to these worthy causes.”, she added.
As a non-profit organization reliant on community donations, supporting Ribfest Chicago ensures the festival can continue to offer joy and support for years to come.
The live music lineup promises to enhance the overall festival experience with performances on two separate stages. The Main Stage at Irving Park Rd. will host various talented performers throughout the weekend.
Friday’s lineup includes Petty Union at 6:00 PM, a Tom Petty tribute band, followed by Hello Weekend at 8:30 PM.
On Saturday, June 7, attendees can enjoy School of Rock at 1:30 PM, followed by Jesse White Tumblers at 3:00 PM and RAVIV – Electric Cellos at 3:30 PM. Love In October takes the stage at 5:15 PM, followed by The Divas at 6:45 PM, and finally, Dancing Queen: An ABBA Salute at 8:30 PM.
