The Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) has opened the fiscal year 2025 with remarkable strength, welcoming 344,490 guests over the first six months through a total of 52 diverse events spanning regional, national, and international levels.
The bustling season showcases spring in Miami Beach as a pivotal time for business, with events such as AdobeMAX generating an impressive economic impact of $25 million and the return of annual favorites like Art Basel and the Miami International Boat Show.
Freddie Peterson, the General Manager of MBCC, expressed excitement about the recent influx of tech, fintech, medical, and sports events at the venue.
“Our focus on delivering exceptional experiences, combined with our unwavering commitment to safety, sustainability, and excellence in customer service, ensures that we remain at the forefront of the industry,” Peterson stated, emphasizing MBCC’s collaboration with the City of Miami Beach and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB).
Looking ahead, the MBCC has a busy summer lined up with notable upcoming events including the World Health Expo (June 11-13), American Black Film Festival (June 9-15), Million Dollar Round Table (June 22-26), Florida Supercon (July 18-20), and the National Fraternal Order of Police National Conference (August 3-7), among many others.
To maintain its reputation as a premier destination, the MBCC is committed to innovation through substantial infrastructure upgrades.
Following a transformative $640 million renovation and expansion between 2015 and 2020, the convention center has allocated approximately $19 million for 22 ongoing capital projects.
These projects focus on enhancing infrastructure, technology, safety, security, cybersecurity, and overall visitor experience, ensuring MBCC continues to meet the evolving needs of both organizers and attendees.
Significant safety and security enhancements include the installation of 41 new security cameras, raising the total number to 564 across the expansive 500,000 sq. ft. exhibit halls.
Additionally, the venue will see an increase in strobe lights, with 165 new units to be added, bringing the total in the exhibit halls up to 330.
On the technological front, summer will mark the installation of four large-format LED wall screens in the Grand Lobby as part of a $1.5 million investment from the City of Miami Beach.
These high-resolution displays are designed to enhance the visual appeal of the space, providing immersive experiences while opening new advertising and sponsorship revenue opportunities for event organizers.
Adding to the excitement, the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach officially broke ground on May 16, 2025.
This long-awaited 800-room hotel will be directly connected to the MBCC via a climate-controlled skybridge, marking a significant milestone with $392 million in secured construction financing.
Developed by Terra and Turnberry, the 17-story hotel—which is set to open in late 2027—will not only include 800 guest rooms but will also feature meeting and ballroom space over four floors, a restaurant, a bar, a rooftop pool deck, and retail options.
Strategically situated within the Convention Center District, the hotel will enhance walkability in the area and strengthen MBCC’s reputation as a premier global meetings destination.
This development puts MBCC in a favorable position to host larger conventions and events, further solidifying its partnerships with hotels throughout Miami Beach.
Freddie Peterson conveyed pride in the thriving atmosphere of the Miami Beach Convention Center, describing it as a dynamic economic engine for business, cultural gatherings, and conventions.
The ongoing construction of the Grand Hyatt, coupled with exciting new events and further investments in technology and sustainability, positions MBCC for a bright future as a world-class venue for years to come.

In addition to logistical advancements, the MBCC has recently achieved a notable industry distinction: a 4 Green Keys rating from Green Key Global’s Meetings Program.
This prestigious certification recognizes MBCC’s leadership in environmental management and corporate social responsibility, showcasing a commitment to sustainability practices within operations.
Thanks to collaboration with the GMCVB, MBCC’s efforts in energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction have been highlighted, reinforcing its role as a transformative force in the greater Miami Beach community.
The expansion of the CARE program, which focuses on the donation of unused food and event materials to local nonprofits, along with Sodexo Live!’s commitment to sourcing locally and working with small, minority-owned businesses, further emphasizes MBCC’s investment in social responsibility.
Highlighting culinary developments, the Rum Room at MBCC celebrated its second anniversary on April 22, 2025, showcasing new food and cocktail menus designed by Executive Chef Ismael LaSalle.
The special event introduced a refreshed guest experience, led by newcomers Executive Sous Chef Omar Hale and Dining Room Manager Anar Aubakirova, demonstrating the restaurant’s evolution into a beloved local dining establishment in Miami Beach.
Set against the backdrop of an indoor and outdoor 80-seat layout, Rum Room’s decor blends Old World charm with tropical 1920s Florida influences, all while emphasizing local and cultural flavors in its upscale menu.
In a historic twist, the Venu—previously the Miami Beach Municipal Golf Course Clubhouse—has evolved into a sophisticated venue ideally suited for upscale private events ranging from cocktail receptions to weddings.
This legendary structure, constructed just after the City of Miami Beach was incorporated, is one of the area’s oldest public buildings.
After being purchased by the city in 1983, it underwent an extensive $3.2 million renovation, transforming it into a premium space within the MBCC’s offerings.
