Exciting Summer Events in Portland: Celebrate the Last Day of School and More!

Good morning, Portland! It’s a beautiful Friday, the last day of school for many, and what better way to kick off the summer than by taking advantage of free rides with the TriMet Summer Pass for high schoolers!

As we dive into the weekend, there are plenty of exciting events lined up to enjoy throughout the city.

Starting today at 3 p.m., get ready for the 2nd Annual Ducky Drop at Director Park. More than 3,000 rubber ducks will be launched into Teacher’s Fountain from above, complemented by giant bubbles, live entertainment, and, of course, ice cream! This fun-filled event is perfect for families and anyone looking to have a good time.

If you’re in the mood for some laughs, tonight is also the night for Kickstand Comedy’s Comedy in the Park at Laurelhurst Park. Bring some snacks, a blanket, and settle in starting at 6 p.m. for an evening of comedic entertainment.

This Sunday, we celebrate Father’s Day, and the festivities kick off early with the Grateful Dad Half Marathon happening tomorrow at 9 a.m. Along the scenic Springwater Corridor Trail, runners can enjoy the morning while making memories with family and friends.

Another highlight on Saturday is WasabiFest, which promises a unique experience featuring a psych-rock performance and a thrilling wasabi-eating contest. Get ready for a day of fun and surprises!

The Portland Horror Film Festival is currently underway, showcasing a variety of new independent shorts and feature films from around the globe. Movie lovers won’t want to miss out on this opportunity to explore fresh cinematic talent.

Moreover, this weekend marks the second weekend of the Renaissance Faire in Canby, allowing visitors to step back in time and enjoy a myriad of medieval activities.

For rodeo enthusiasts, there’s an 8 Seconds Rodeo event happening on the 15th, and a pre-rodeo special brunch and photoshoot session will take place at The Bakery Building that morning to energize the spirit of the event.

As June continues, keep an eye out for Camas Pride set for June 20-22. Expect a lineup filled with activities such as yoga, a ‘Pride on the Lake’ celebration, and a lively Block Party on the final day.

On June 21-22, local creativity takes center stage with the 3rd Annual Summer Story Fest hosted by Outlet PDX and Honeyed Words. Participants can enjoy workshops on risograph animation and linocut printing, as well as sessions featuring local authors and zinesters.

Additionally, ‘Wozzee Zowee: Pavements’ will have a screening at the Tomorrow Theater on June 22 at 7:30 p.m. Nostalgic music fans can dust off their early 2000s attire for a themed Myspace Ride organized as part of PedalPalooza on the same day.

Lastly, don’t forget that Portland Beer Week is kicking off today and runs through June 22. There will be a plethora of special events across the city, starting with the evening activity at Loyal Legion inside PDX.
