Tehran, Iran – In a bold statement, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused the United States of facilitating recent Israeli attacks on Iranian soil. He asserted that the military operations could not proceed without the backing and equipment supplied by the US.
During a press conference in Tehran, Araghchi shared, “We have well-documented and solid evidence of the support provided by American forces in the region and their bases for the military attacks of the Zionist regime.”
Araghchi emphasized that US President Donald Trump had publicly acknowledged his awareness of these assaults, which he claimed were tied to the provision of US military equipment. Moreover, he warned that further attacks were imminent, positioning the US as a complicit partner and urging it to accept responsibility for its role.
Despite messages from Washington through various intermediaries denying involvement in the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Araghchi expressed skepticism. He noted that the evidence suggested otherwise, demanding a clear condemnation of the assaults on Iranian nuclear sites, which he characterized as a violation of international law.
As the backdrop of the conflict intensified, the Israeli strikes coincided with scheduled nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, mediated by Oman. Araghchi contended that Israel has historically attempted to undermine such diplomatic efforts through military aggression.
Iranian sources indicate that the recent Israeli strikes, targeting both civilian and military areas, have resulted in the deaths of at least 80 individuals, including many civilians. Furthermore, prominent Iranian military figures, including commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), along with several nuclear scientists, were reportedly targeted in these operations.
In retaliation, Iran has launched missile and drone attacks against Israel, claiming to hit vital energy infrastructure. Initial reports estimate at least 10 casualties within Israel as a result of Iranian strikes.
Israeli forces have struck critical infrastructure in Iran, including fuel reserves and the major gasfield in the South Pars region, leading to significant damage and fires across affected areas. Araghchi denounced these attacks as a “major strategic mistake,” warning of the potential for broader regional conflict.
With the situation continuing to escalate, both Iran and Israel have signaled that their military actions will persist. The Israeli military has warned Iranian citizens to steer clear of facilities linked to military production lest they face dire consequences.
On Sunday, fresh Israeli airstrikes targeted various locations in Tehran, including residential neighborhoods, while the Iranian government maintained that it would cease hostilities should Israel stop its attacks. Araghchi called upon the international community to intervene and condemn Israel’s actions.
The Iranian media has extensively covered these military exchanges, with various outlets framed around themes of national unity and resilience in the face of aggression. Hardline publications emphasized the damage inflicted on Israeli territories while promoting a narrative of retribution and resolve.
In response to the conflict, Iranian state television broadcast a victory march for the first time in decades. The event evoked memories of the Iran-Iraq War, marking a significant shift in public sentiment during the current crises.
As Tehran braces for potential further strikes, local authorities have revived protective measures reminiscent of earlier conflicts, including the use of makeshift shelters. Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani announced a suspension of air travel as the government prepares to ensure basic necessities are available amidst the ongoing warfare.
Despite calls for business operations to proceed as usual in Tehran, government workers have been ordered to work remotely, indicating potential dangers ahead. The Tehran Stock Exchange also remains closed, with its future operations dependent on the developments following the latest military engagements.
As the situation evolves, Iran’s officials remain defiant, vowing to respond decisively to any threats while nurturing a sense of national cohesion amid the turmoil. With both sides entrenched in their positions and escalating hostilities, the region remains under significant threat of further conflict.
