Berkshire Theatre Group (BTG) is set to bring back its acclaimed production of Pink Floyd’s The Wall: A Theatrical Concert Experience for two exciting nights at The Colonial Theatre.
This immersive concert is making its much-anticipated return on Friday, June 27, and Saturday, June 28, both at 7 PM, following a sold-out run last year that left audiences wanting more.
The production, which seamlessly blends concert, theatre, and multimedia elements, delves into themes of isolation, fame, and emotional turmoil experienced by a rock star named ‘Pink.’
First released in 1979, The Wall has since solidified its status as a monumental album in rock history, and this reimagined concert brings its narrative and music to life with unparalleled energy and intensity.
Key to the experience is the notable Pink Floyd tribute band Beyond The Wall, renowned for their sonic precision and visual artistry, which allows them to authentically recreate the grandeur and emotional depth of the original concept album and film.
Audience members can expect to be fully immersed in the album’s legendary soundscape, amplified through theatrical direction, striking projections, and a powerhouse ensemble.
A closer look at the team behind this theatrical concert reveals a wealth of talent and experience driving the production.
Tor Krautter, the adaptor of the show, is a Berkshire-based musician and producer with remarkable credentials.
His career spans three decades, starting as the frontman for The Rev Tor Band, and later transitioning into theatrical concert production, where he has crafted concept shows for local audiences since 2018.
Krautter has collaborated extensively with BTG on various acclaimed productions, including The Last Waltz Live and Respect: A Tribute to The Queen of Soul.
Directing this ambitious production is Greg Santos, a talented director from Western Massachusetts currently based in New York City.
Santos returns to BTG after the success of last summer’s run and is also set to direct Million Dollar Quartet this season for Broadway Sacramento, among other projects.
His extensive repertoire includes notable works at esteemed venues such as The North Shore Music Theatre and The Goodspeed Opera House, reflecting his broad reach within the industry.
In the pivotal role of ‘Pink’ is Mike Wartella, a Broadway actor and BTG alum known for his emotional depth and captivating stage presence.
Wartella has originated roles in major Broadway productions including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Wicked, showcasing his vocal range and theatrical prowess.
Adding to the ensemble is Kathy Jo Grover, a respected vocalist and director, who elevates the production’s emotional impact through her narrative voice and visual storytelling, creating a complete and cohesive experience for audiences.
Rounding out the performance is Beyond The Wall, a Pink Floyd tribute band formed in 2007, recognized for their commitment to replicating the sound, visuals, and stagecraft of the original band with high fidelity.
With a combined 100 years of performing experience, they aim to recreate the authentic power and emotion that Pink Floyd fans have come to love.
Whether you missed last year’s production or wish to relive the magic once more, Pink Floyd’s The Wall: A Theatrical Concert Experience promises to be an unforgettable event for both long-time fans and newcomers alike.
