Officials reported that a total of $29.5 billion has been allocated for Georgia’s HOPE scholarship, pre-kindergarten programs, and other educational purposes.
For players who win online tickets, it’s important to note that these tickets must be claimed within 180 days from the drawing date, while instant ticket winners have a 90-day window from the expiration date to claim their prizes.
Further information regarding prize claims can be found on the Georgia Lottery’s official website, which provides detailed instructions on how to receive winnings.
Lottery officials also reminded players that Georgia takes a 5.75 percent state tax and 24 percent federal tax on winnings exceeding $5,000.
The Georgia Lottery Corporation is tasked with reporting prize winners above $600 to the IRS and the Georgia Department of Revenue, ensuring that any outstanding child support payments and tax obligations are deducted from prizes accordingly.
