Victoria Monét Shares Heartwarming Moments with Daughter Hazel and Launches Children’s Book

Victoria Monét, a three-time Grammy Award winner, has always prioritized quality time with her 4-year-old daughter, Hazel, who she shares with ex-boyfriend John Gaines.

Best known for her work with top artists like Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez, Monét has expanded her creative repertoire by penning a heartwarming children’s picture book titled “Everywhere You Are,” set to be released on June 24.

In a recent interview, Monét discussed the inspiration behind her book, which addresses the common issue of separation anxiety in children, especially when parents have demanding jobs. She emphasizes the importance of reassuring children that they are loved and that everything will be okay.

Despite her busy schedule in the music industry, Monét always carves out precious moments for Hazel. In an extraordinary milestone, Hazel became the youngest Grammy nominee in history at the age of 2 for her contributions to the song “Hollywood.” Recently, she even attended her first concert with her mother when Beyoncé launched her “Cowboy Carter” tour at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood.

Monét describes their ideal Sunday in Los Angeles as a blend of outdoor play, visits to family fun centers, indulging in vegan treats, and reading together before bedtime.

The day begins with gratitude at 8:30 a.m. Monét and Hazel wake up a bit later than usual, often after a late night. Their morning routine starts with gratitude journaling—Hazel doodles while Monét writes. Afterward, they delve into self-care, brushing their hair and teeth before heading downstairs.

Breakfast features character pancakes adorned with chocolate chips or Fruity Pebbles cereal, and then they often engage in arts and crafts in their dedicated art space filled with various supplies.

By 10 a.m., it’s time to move and groove. Hazel, bubbling with energy, takes dance lessons from instructors who come to their home, learning styles from ballroom to ballet and tap. Monét also ensures Hazel stays active with soccer practice twice a week, fostering a love for the sport without the pressure of competition during this early stage.

At noon, they head to Uovo Pasta, a favorite spot for Italian food. Monét notes Hazel’s love for pasta, and they enjoy dishes like pomodoro and cacio e pepe—though she limits the latter due to her mostly plant-based diet. The duo often shares meals, including the occasional guilty pleasure of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, which Hazel picked up from her mother’s pregnancy cravings.

After lunch, it’s nap time for Hazel around 1 p.m., allowing Monét a brief respite before their afternoon activities begin at 2:30 p.m.

The trampoline park Off the Wall in Woodland Hills becomes their playground, and Hazel’s laughter fills the air as she jumps and plays, with Monét chasing after her and working up a sweat.

Once the fun winds down, they make a pit stop for sweet treats around 4 p.m. Happy Ice, famous for its flavorful slushy snow cones, is a go-to, and during Hazel’s birthday party, Monét had a mobile truck bring the deliciousness directly to their home. Other favorites like Magpies Softserve—known for its vegan honeycomb soft serve—also provide a delightful end to their adventures.

As evening approaches, dinner becomes an experience in itself, with 6 p.m. reserved for tapas-style dining at Joey in Woodland Hills, where the menu offers a variety big enough for everyone. Monét enjoys sharing different dishes with Hazel while keeping it fun and interactive with options like veggie and tofu tacos when they dine at home.

As nighttime settles in, around 8 p.m., they wind down with a movie. A favorite currently is “Moana 2,” which Hazel insists on watching repeatedly, showcasing her attachment to the film’s themes.

Finally, as part of their bedtime routine, Monét reads “Everywhere You Are” to Hazel, a book that embodies the sentiments of love and connection despite physical absence. Hazel has embraced the story so much that she can nearly recite it herself, a testament to the special bond they share.

In launching this book, Monét hopes to offer a reassuring message to children about the enduring presence of love, even when a parent is not physically there. Her journey as a mother and an artist uniquely highlights the blend of creativity, devotion, and the importance of cherishing the small moments with family.

With events planned to discuss her book and share her insights as both a performer and a devoted mother, Monét continues to inspire with her heartfelt messages, both in her music and her writing.
