Houston’s food scene continues to evolve with the exciting openings of several new restaurants.
Among the latest is MA Asian Kitchen, which softly opened the last week of June at 2512 Rice Boulevard.
This innovative concept comes from Chef Miranda Loetkhamfu, a co-founder and former executive chef at Kin Dee and Four Region Thai Cuisine.
Drawing from her Thai heritage, Chef Miranda explores a rich tapestry of flavors, incorporating influences from Laos, Cambodia, China, India, and Vietnam, while also integrating European and American twists.
The eclectic menu includes standout dishes such as Rack of Lamb, Lobster Linguine, MA’s Curry Fried Rice, and the Twilight Duck, a unique roasted duck dish served with a creamy coconut sauce.
As the team continues to refine the menu, guests can look forward to dishes like Brisket Curry and Basil Bomb, a stir-fried spaghetti creation.
Wine pairings and sake flights will also be available, ensuring a delightful culinary experience for all.
The name MA translates to “come in” in Thai, perfectly encapsulating the welcoming atmosphere the restaurant aims to provide for its diverse clientele.
Another new addition to Houston’s dining landscape is Peppaz, located at 411 Smith in Lyric Market, which officially opens on July 12.
This venture is led by local partners and owners, Mimi Jones and Johnae Bernard, who began their culinary journey from a home kitchen in 2018.
After making a name for themselves in the food truck scene in 2022, they have now transitioned to a permanent brick-and-mortar location.
The duo’s chicken-focused menu pays homage to Jones’s grandmother, Rosie, known for her legendary fried chicken.
Jones, a self-taught chef, had always dreamed of opening a restaurant, a surprise to Bernard when they first started dating.
Peppaz gained popularity with their food truck, offering double-fried wings, crispy broccoli, and homemade lemonades, catering to various corporate events across the city.
The vibrant atmosphere of Lyric Market was an appealing choice for their first physical location, allowing them the opportunity to connect with their growing customer base.
Their menu features an array of flavorful options, including double-fried wings in various flavors like hot honey and lemon pepper, alongside the
