Aldi is preparing to open its doors to the public this week, marking its entry into the Las Vegas market.
The grand opening is set for April 24 at 8 a.m. for both the Henderson and North Las Vegas locations, situated at 621 Mark St. and 2106 W. Craig Road, respectively.
These openings are part of Aldi’s broader expansion strategy in the Southwest region.
Shawn Eddy, regional vice president at Aldi, expressed enthusiasm about the company’s growth in Las Vegas.
“This is just the next step for us — to come out here to Vegas,” he stated during a recent preview of the new Henderson location.
Although the Henderson and North Las Vegas stores will be opening this week, the third planned location at 7150 S. Rainbow Blvd. will not debut until May.
Aldi is recognized for its cost-saving approach to groceries, primarily offering private-label products and forming direct partnerships with manufacturers.
“About 90 percent of our range is private-label products, not brands,” Eddy explained.
This model allows Aldi to maintain control over product quality, ingredients, and pricing, enabling the company to provide high-quality offerings at competitive prices.
Customers can take advantage of special savings through the red “Aldi Savers” logo displayed on select price tags, indicating lower prices on various items.
For instance, shoppers can find a dozen cage-free large white eggs for $4.47 and private-label tomato ketchup priced at $1.85.
Additionally, Aldi’s pork cuts start as low as $6.89.
Aldi keeps its operation costs down by encouraging customers to bag their own groceries and return carts with a 25-cent deposit for cart rentals.
One of the distinctive features of Aldi is the Aldi Finds aisle, rotating 100 new items each week, which can include anything from Conair hairstyling tools priced at $14.99 to outdoor firepits available for $49.99.
Initially, neither store will carry alcohol but plans to stock these items are in place for summer.
During the preview, Aldi showcased its extensive selection of private-label produce, cheese, and seafood.
The produce section offers unique fruits such as raspberry oranges and cotton candy grapes, alongside traditional options like vegetables and salad kits.
In the cheese area, shoppers can select from 50 specialty cheeses, including gouda and aged white cheddar and the return of the manchego.
The seafood section features fresh, never-frozen options, including salmon, ahi tuna, snow crab legs, and tilapia.
To celebrate the grand opening at both locations, the first 100 customers will receive gift bags filled with Aldi-exclusive products, along with an Aldi poker chip to unlock carts and a gift card through the Aldi Golden Ticket giveaway program.
During the opening weekend, shoppers can also enter a sweepstakes for a $500 Aldi gift card.
At the Henderson store on the grand opening day, customers will have a chance to win access to Aldi’s High Savers Room, available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In this exclusive area, shoppers can sample Aldi private label brands and may receive free Vegas-themed Aldi merchandise and other surprises.
