Exciting Events Unfolding in Las Vegas: From Wine Tastings to Culinary Celebrations

UNLVino, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, is set to take place from 7 to 10 p.m. on May 2 at the Thomas & Mack Center. As the oldest and largest wine tasting event in Las Vegas, it aims to raise scholarship funds for students at the William F. Harrah College of Hospitality at UNLV, one of the nation’s top hospitality programs alongside Cornell University.

The Grand Tasting boasts a stunning array of offerings including hundreds of wines, beers, spirits, and sakes from Southern Glazer’s Wine, Beer and Spirits of Nevada, the event’s founder and partner. Attendees will also savor dishes created by notable Las Vegas restaurants and contribute to a culinary station run by students from the Harrah College.

This event serves as a capstone course, allowing students to engage in various aspects of event planning such as logistics, marketing, ticket sales, and food preparation.

Over its fifty-year history, UNLVino has successfully raised millions to support student scholarships and mentoring programs.

Tickets for this significant event are priced at $100 for general admission and $170 for VIP access when purchased in advance through unlvtickets.com. At the door, general admission will be available for $125. For more details, visit unlvino.com.

Adding to the culinary excitement, Carversteak at Resorts World has unveiled a seasonal menu perfect for spring. The menu features a plethora of fresh dishes, including spring greens and burrata with asparagus and roasted baby beets priced at $22, and corn and clam chowder infused with smoky bacon, potato, and popcorn for $21.

Meat lovers can indulge in a parsley-crusted Atlantic salmon with preserved lemon for $42, and dukkah spice-crusted Colorado lamb for $82. For dessert, guests can enjoy a tuxedo chocolate espresso sponge cake with Oreos for $18. More information can be found at carversteak.com.

In the Arts District, a new mixed-use condominium complex called Midtown Las Vegas is breaking ground with ambitious plans for its food and beverage offerings. Chef Bruce Kalman, known for his work at SoulBelly BBQ and a James Beard Award nominee, is set to oversee the culinary program.

Among the dining concepts is Midtown x The Pepper Club, where Kalman will collaborate with chef Manny Rivera from The Pepper Club at The English Hotel to design a Mediterranean-inspired menu. Other prospective dining options include Glass House Restaurant, Shanghai Nights Speakeasy, a sports bar, a pizzeria, a Brazilian steakhouse, a specialty bodega, and a farmers market.
