Mike Dreitzer Appointed Chairman of Nevada Gaming Control Board

Mike Dreitzer, currently the CEO of Gaming Arts LLC, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, effective June 23. He will succeed Kirk Hendrick, who announced his plans to step down at the conclusion of Nevada’s 2025 legislative session.

Governor Joe Lombardo expressed confidence in Dreitzer’s ability to lead the board with integrity and innovation, citing his extensive background in gaming compliance and decades of industry experience.

Dreitzer will resign from his current position at Gaming Arts, a Las Vegas-based company that holds over 150 gaming licenses, and will provide transition services until he officially begins his role at the board. The company is currently in the process of being acquired by Merkur Gaming, which plans to appear before Nevada’s gaming regulators next month.

Before leading Gaming Arts, Dreitzer served as the president of the North America Division for Ainsworth Game Technology Inc., as well as the chief operating officer of BMM Americas, a prominent global gaming test lab and consultancy. He has also held various compliance roles for Progressive Gaming International Corp. and was a deputy attorney general in Nevada, providing legal representation for the Nevada Gaming Commission and the Control Board.

Dreitzer earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his law degree from Emory University. As of 2023, the annual salary and benefits for the chairman of the Control Board are reported to be $223,256.

In a separate development, BMM Testlabs, a Las Vegas-based company specializing in testing and certifying gaming products globally, has recently changed ownership. The Visualize Group, a New York-based private investment firm, announced an agreement to acquire BMM Testlabs, which offers testing, inspection, compliance, and certification services for the gaming industry.

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed; however, Visualize intends to implement an employee ownership program, allowing BMM’s employees to participate in the firm’s value creation initiatives that include various growth strategies.

In other industry news, online casinos have recently made headlines by surpassing gross gaming revenue from land-based casinos in two East Coast states during March. New Jersey and Michigan set record revenues, showcasing the growing dominance of online gambling in certain jurisdictions.

In New Jersey, internet gambling generated $244 million in March, exceeding the $231 million reported by the nine casinos in Atlantic City. This marks the second consecutive month of online gaming revenue surpassing retail casino revenue, with the total for the first three months of 2025 reaching $673 million compared to $644 million generated by Atlantic City casinos, according to data from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

Michigan also reported the highest online casino revenue on record, with operators generating $260.5 million in March, while the three commercial casinos in Detroit generated $117.4 million.

Moreover, Pennsylvania online casinos set a monthly record in March, bringing in $238.2 million, while the state’s brick-and-mortar casinos generated $304.4 million. It’s worth noting that Nevada currently prohibits internet gambling, allowing only online poker.

As the gaming landscape evolves, Dreitzer’s leadership at the Nevada Gaming Control Board comes at a crucial time, reflecting the ongoing changes within the industry and the regulatory environment.
