In another crucial development, the Secure Community Network (SCN), the dedicated safety and security organization serving the Jewish community throughout North America, has announced the hiring of Ken Mead as the regional security advisor for Nevada.
In his new capacity, Mead will oversee the safety and security of approximately 70,000 Jewish residents across the state and 47 different facilities.
His responsibilities also include administering the Federation’s security programs, offering consultations, conducting assessments, providing training and drills, and coordinating responses to critical incidents.
Ken Mead arrives with a wealth of law enforcement and security expertise, which he brings to SCN’s mission of safeguarding Jewish communities.
His extensive background in counterterrorism and threat assessment, coupled with local law enforcement experience, will be invaluable in enhancing security measures across Nevada’s Jewish communities.
Before joining SCN, Mead served as the regional prevention coordinator for Terrorism and Targeted Violence with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
He spent 26 years with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, including time serving on the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and managing the Threat Assessment Program for Targeted Violence.
He has also played crucial roles as the terrorism liaison to the Nevada legislative session and as the LVMPD liaison to Interpol, facilitating international law enforcement requests in Southern Nevada.
