Signs of HOPE Expands Violence Prevention Efforts with ‘Party Smart’ Sticker Campaign in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – In a significant move to enhance community safety and awareness, Signs of HOPE (Healing, Options, Prevention and Education), a nonprofit organization dedicated to aiding victims of sexual violence and exploitation for over 50 years, is expanding its ‘Party Smart’ violence prevention campaign.

This initiative aims to distribute free stickers featuring crucial messaging and crisis hotline information to various pool venues, dayclubs, nightclubs, and bars throughout Las Vegas. The stickers, designed for display in the privacy of restrooms, feature the campaign’s key messages: ‘Arrive Together, Stick Together, and Leave Together.’ They also include two crucial hotline numbers: the Sexual Assault Hotline at 702-366-1640 and the Human Trafficking Hotline at 702-936-4004.

The launch of this sticker program in April is particularly timely. April marks Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a national effort to spotlight the prevalence of sexual assault and educate communities on prevention strategies. As the Las Vegas pool season picks up and crowds flock to local festivities, the need for awareness becomes even more pressing.

Kim Small, CEO of Signs of HOPE, stated, “We ask everyone to take the Party Smart pledge to Arrive Together, Stick Together, and Leave Together before heading out for any party venue. Simple steps like these can significantly help prevent incidents of sexual violence, especially since isolating individuals from their groups is a common tactic used by predators.”

Recognizing the importance of safety, Small emphasized the need for discreet access to resources for those who might feel unsafe or witness predatory behavior while at party venues. The placement of these stickers aims to provide critical information without attracting the attention of potential offenders.

The hotlines operated by Signs of HOPE are available 24/7, staffed by trained advocates ready to assist individuals in crisis. They not only offer support but also answer inquiries, provide crucial information, and help initiate safety planning if needed.

Signs of HOPE is extending the offer of free stickers to any hospitality venue in Southern Nevada, encouraging local businesses to partner in the Party Smart campaign to further raise awareness and prevent sexual violence.

Among the first to adopt the sticker initiative are TAO Group Hospitality, which oversees 16 party venues on the Las Vegas Strip, and Palms Casino Resort. Their participation showcases a proactive stance in fostering a safer environment for patrons.

For other interested establishments in Southern Nevada looking to implement the Party Smart sticker program, Signs of HOPE encourages outreach at 702-366-1640.

The necessity for the Party Smart Campaign is underscored by alarming statistics indicating that women aged 18 to 35 are at the highest risk of experiencing sexual violence.

Moreover, approximately 20% of victims assisted by Signs of HOPE at UMC Hospital report that their assault occurred in a party or alcohol-serving setting, or they encountered their perpetrator in such environments. Alarmingly, over 80% of sexual assaults are linked to alcohol consumption, which predators frequently exploit to exert control.

Signs of HOPE, formerly known as Community Action Against Rape (CAAR) and The Rape Crisis Center, has continued to evolve its services since its inception in 1974. Today, the organization operates two 24/7 crisis hotlines and provides essential responses to sexual assault victims at hospitals. In addition to crisis management, Signs of HOPE offers counseling, advocacy, and ongoing support throughout the healing journey, no matter how long it may take.

Through its Resources and Integration for Survivor Empowerment (RISE) program, the organization also addresses all forms of human trafficking by offering crisis response and long-term case management services.

Driven by a commitment to raising awareness of sexual assault and exploitation, Signs of HOPE actively engages in prevention, educational programs, and community outreach, particularly focusing on youth. For anyone seeking support or information, the 24/7 sexual assault hotline is 702-366-1640, while the RISE human trafficking hotline is 702-936-4004. For further details, visit sohlv.org.
