Houston is expected to enter a wetter period, where rain could be a possibility on most days over the upcoming week.
Following a spell of hot weather, a weak front is anticipated to bring slightly drier air into the region this weekend, reducing humidity levels somewhat.
**Wednesday**
Today marks the beginning of this wetter trend, with scattered showers expected in the morning.
By afternoon, residents can look forward to partly sunny skies, and temperatures reaching the low- to mid-80s, contingent on cloud cover.
Strong southerly winds will continue to gust up to 25 mph or higher throughout the day.
As the night approaches, a line of storms heading from the north could reach Houston around midnight.
There is a possibility that these showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be severe, could traverse south of Interstate 10 by Thursday morning.
However, the likelihood of this occurring is estimated at 50 percent or less.
**Thursday**
By mid-morning on Thursday, any lingering storm activity should have swept eastward, leaving behind a partly sunny and warm day.
Some areas may see temperatures climb into the upper 80s, with a few inland spots potentially hitting the low 90s.
Overnight, lows are projected to drop to around 70 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.
**Friday**
Expect another warm to hot day on Friday, with high temperatures settling in the upper 80s.
From Friday afternoon onward, rain chances will begin to rise due to an approaching weather front.
While specifics about the impending storms are still uncertain, the forecast indicates a substantial probability of rain from Friday evening through Saturday morning, possibly extending into the early afternoon hours on Saturday as the front slowly makes its way into Houston.
**Saturday**
The first half of the weekend is poised to see a greater likelihood of showers, particularly in the morning.
High temperatures on Saturday are expected to reach around 80 degrees, with clearing skies likely in the afternoon.
There is some uncertainty surrounding temperatures, but lows might dip into the mid-60s on Saturday night as we transition into Sunday morning.
**Sunday**
I am cautiously optimistic for a pleasant Sunday ahead.
While humidity will not be significantly low, it is anticipated to be noticeably more comfortable compared to recent days.
Temperatures could hover in the low 80s, accompanied by partly sunny skies and relatively lower humidity for early May.
Although perfection may not be on the horizon, isolated to scattered showers could emerge later in the day.
As we approach summer, even small improvements in the weather are welcome.
**Next Week**
Looking into next week, high temperatures are likely to settle in the mid-80s.
High pressure should initially suppress rain chances at the start of the week, but Friday or Saturday night may see the return of rain and possible thunderstorms.
We’ll continue to monitor the situation closely.
