Hidden Gem for Happy Hour: The Whiskey House Delivers Mouthwatering Deals

While exploring happy hour options in Coronado, one patron highlighted a unique experience just across the bridge in San Diego’s Chinatown, drawing attention to an incredible deal on pork chops at The Whiskey House.

The Whiskey House, located at 420 Third Avenue, is not easily spotted if you aren’t looking for it, as it resides in San Diego’s surprisingly small Chinatown.

After being inspired by a conversation about this hidden gem, I decided to check it out last Tuesday with a date in tow.

Upon arrival, the extensive happy hour menu immediately caught our eye with a full page of enticing offerings, including the marinated pork chop priced at $12.

This pork chop, seasoned with scotch whiskey, thyme, rosemary, and garlic, served with crispy fries, quickly became a must-try.

To commence our evening, we were eager to dive into the drinks, where the happy hour special truly stole the show: a beer for $5 and the option to add a shot for an additional dollar.

My date chose a flavorful whiskey sour priced at just $8, making the excitement palpable as we prepared for our happy hour feast.

In addition to the standout pork chop, we broadened our culinary experience with some Vietnamese Wings at only $1.25 each and the delectable Whiskey House Fish Ceviche for $8.

What’s more, upon flipping through The Whiskey House’s standard menu, we discovered that many happy hour items were available at approximately half their normal prices.

The pork chop arrived, perfectly cooked at around eight ounces, along with a generous serving of fries.

Every bite was a reminder of why our newfound friend had raved about this dish; it was indeed one of the best pork chops I’ve enjoyed in quite some time.

The combination of the delightful marinade and the expertly cooked meat made for a marvelous culinary experience.

All our selections—wings, ceviche, fries, and an assortment of five drinks—contributed to an unexpected total of only $63 before tip, leaving us thrilled with the value.

Happy hour at The Whiskey House is available daily from 4 to 7 pm, and as we wrapped up our meal, the establishment became increasingly lively with Padres fans arriving en route to the game.

While this was my first visit, I realized my next one would be a surgical strike, a strategic approach to ordering that I’d perfected for value.

Next time, I plan to stick with the pork chop, a beer, and a shot, maintaining a total of just $18 before a generous tip.

Besides the great taste and fantastic prices, the ambiance of The Whiskey House is a noteworthy highlight.

The dimly lit atmosphere, surrounded by thousands of bottles of the world’s finest whiskeys, offers a cozy setting that is perfect for a relaxing evening out.
