Investigation Underway into Threat Against President Trump by Deported Migrant

The Department of Homeland Security has reported that a migrant residing in the United States without legal status has been arrested after allegedly threatening to assassinate President Donald Trump.

Ramon Morales Reyes, 54, is accused of sending a letter in which he expressed intentions to shoot Trump at an upcoming rally.

Following the threat, Reyes was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

However, multiple law enforcement sources suggest that authorities are exploring the possibility that the threatening letter may have been part of a frame job by another individual.

Reyes reportedly submitted to a handwriting analysis that did not match the handwriting found in the letter, raising questions about the authenticity of the threat.

In response to this situation, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem took to social media platform X to commend ICE agents for their prompt actions, emphasizing her commitment to keeping the President safe.

“Thanks to our ICE officers, this illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is behind bars,” she stated, although she did not comment on the potential for Reyes being framed.

Further investigations revealed that Reyes had been involved in a dispute with another man, currently incarcerated for allegedly assaulting him, shedding light on potential motives behind the false threat.

Sources indicate that this man may have wanted Reyes deported to prevent him from testifying against him in court.

The ongoing investigation into the threat is being led by the Milwaukee Police Department, which recently stated it is also looking into an identity theft and victim intimidation incident related to the case.

As the investigation is still underway, the Milwaukee Police Department declined to confirm the identities of those involved or disclose criminal charges at this time.

Officials from DHS have noted that Reyes has been in the country illegally on multiple occasions—at least nine—and has a violent criminal history.

This incident comes less than a year after a similar threat against President Trump occurred, where he was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania.

It also follows a call made by former FBI Director Comey for an assassination against the President just two weeks prior.

After Reyes’ arrest, Noem urged politicians and members of the media to consider the implications of their rhetoric surrounding threats to Trump’s life.

“The repeated attempts on President Trump’s life should serve as a wake-up call for all,” she stated emphatically.

With the ongoing nature of this threat investigation also involving the Secret Service, officials have referred inquiries back to the Department of Homeland Security.

The situation highlights a significant increase in ICE’s deportation efforts, as revealed in a recent meeting led by Stephen Miller, deputy chief of staff at the White House, alongside Noem.

During this meeting, Miller expressed the administration’s desire to triple the number of daily arrests made by ICE, increasing from approximately 1,000 to 3,000 arrests a day.

As authorities continue to investigate the legitimacy of Reyes’ threat and the circumstances surrounding it, the implications of such threats against public officials remain a highly sensitive and pressing issue.
