Father Sean McGrath Retires After 34 Years of Devoted Service to Denver’s Archdiocese

After more than three decades of dedicated service to the Archdiocese of Denver, Father Sean McGrath is set to retire on June 30.

Father McGrath, known for his joyful demeanor, compassionate heart, and steadfast dedication to Christ and his community, leaves behind a legacy of love that has profoundly impacted numerous lives both within and beyond parish boundaries.

Currently serving as the pastor of the Shrine of St. Anne in Arvada, Father McGrath was ordained on June 8, 1991, after completing his studies at Conception Seminary College in Missouri and Sacred Heart School of Theology in Wisconsin.

During his 34-year ministry, he served across various parishes in the archdiocese, including St. Vincent de Paul and Risen Christ in Denver, Guardian Angels and St. Francis Cabrini in Littleton, and twice at the Shrine of St. Anne, where he returned for his latest tenure in 2017.

His return to St. Anne was met with warmth and joy from the parish community. Longtime parishioner Jean Klene noted, “When he came back to St. Anne, it was like a reunion with an old friend. We were so happy to have him back — and even better, he seemed happy to be with us, too.”
