United States Men’s National Team head coach Mauricio Pochettino has unveiled a 26-man roster ahead of the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, featuring 15 players currently competing in Major League Soccer (MLS).
The roster also includes another seven players who previously played in the league before moving abroad, illustrating the depth of talent that the USMNT can draw from.
The goalkeeping department sees competition from three goalkeepers: Chris Brady from Chicago Fire FC, Matt Freese of New York City FC, and Matt Turner, who currently plays for Crystal Palace.
Defensively, Pochettino has selected nine players, including Max Arfsten (Columbus Crew), Alex Freeman (Orlando City), Nathan Harriel (Philadelphia Union), Mark McKenzie (Toulouse), Tim Ream (Charlotte FC), Chris Richards (Crystal Palace), Miles Robinson (FC Cincinnati), John Tolkin (Holstein Kiel), and Walker Zimmerman (Nashville SC).
In the midfield, there are nine players as well, with notable inclusions such as Brenden Aaronson (Leeds United), Tyler Adams (Bournemouth), Sebastian Berhalter (Vancouver Whitecaps FC), Johnny Cardoso (Real Betis), Luca de la Torre (San Diego FC), Diego Luna (Real Salt Lake), Jack McGlynn (Houston Dynamo FC), Quinn Sullivan (Philadelphia Union), and Malik Tillman (PSV Eindhoven).
The forward position features five players: Paxten Aaronson (FC Utrecht), Patrick Agyemang (Charlotte FC), Damion Downs (FC Köln), Brian White (Vancouver Whitecaps FC), and Haji Wright (Coventry City).
The upcoming matches for the USMNT in Group D are set as follows: they will kick off against Trinidad & Tobago on June 15 at 6 pm ET in PayPal Park, located in San Jose, California.
They will then face Saudi Arabia on June 19 at 9:15 pm ET at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, followed by a match against Haiti on June 22 at 7 pm ET at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The format of the tournament allows the top two teams in the group to progress to the knockout phase, with quarterfinal matchups scheduled for June 28-29.
The final of the tournament is set for July 6 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
The USMNT is in pursuit of its eighth Gold Cup title, having last won the tournament in 2021.
This competition serves as a crucial opportunity for the team to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Highlighting the talent among MLS players, Vancouver Whitecaps striker Brian White has scored 10 goals this season, while Real Salt Lake’s Diego Luna has netted eight.
Additionally, Quinn Sullivan of the Philadelphia Union is currently second in the league for assists, with seven.
Among the players called up, Alex Freeman from Orlando City is enjoying a significant breakthrough season, marking his first inclusion in a USMNT camp.
Sebastian Berhalter, also of Vancouver, is a newcomer after helping his team reach the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup final, showcasing the rising talent within the league.
Several players in the roster bring previous Gold Cup experience, including defenders Tim Ream, Miles Robinson, and Walker Zimmerman, who are expected to play vital roles in the tournament.
Competitively, Agyemang will contend for a starting position alongside Brian White at the No. 9 role.
