Philadelphia experienced a violent weekend that resulted in two homicides and several injuries across the city, according to law enforcement officials.

In Southwest Philadelphia, police reported both killings, with the first occurring just after 2:45 a.m. on Sunday.

Officers responded to a shooting on the 2100 block of Cemetery Avenue in the Mount Moriah area, where a 33-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds.

Despite being rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, he was declared dead shortly after arrival.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the police have not publicly released the victim’s name.

The second homicide took place Saturday night in the Kingsessing neighborhood.

A 56-year-old man was arrested in connection to the stabbing of a 56-year-old woman on the 1800 block of S. Yewdall Street.

Officers arrived around 9:30 p.m. and discovered the woman on the street suffering from a stab wound to the chest.

She was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center but later succumbed to her injuries.

The motive behind the attack is still unclear, and police have not released the names of either the victim or the suspect.

Earlier Saturday, a shooting incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. on the 1400 block of S. 24th Street in South Philadelphia.

A 28-year-old man presented at Jefferson Methodist Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left thigh.

He is currently reported to be in stable condition.

In North Philadelphia, gunfire erupted during a confrontation related to an Airbnb party on the 2300 block of N. 18th Street late Friday night.

At about 11:15 p.m., an altercation led to a man firing into a crowd, injuring two young women.

An 18-year-old woman was shot in the face and is in critical condition at Temple University Hospital.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old woman was hit in the stomach, but her injuries are not life-threatening according to authorities.

Additionally, earlier the same evening at around 9:45 p.m., a 12-year-old girl was injured when gunfire broke out on the 2200 block of N. Delhi Street in North Philadelphia.

She was grazed by a bullet and has been taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Another shooting occurred shortly after 9:15 p.m. on the 1800 block of N. 27th Street.

A 25-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times in the face and body while standing outside a store.

Witnesses reported that a dark-colored Acura pulled up, and four men exited the vehicle before a foot-chase shooter opened fire at close range.

Both of the shooters reportedly fled the scene in the Acura.

The Philadelphia Police Department asks anyone with information regarding these incidents to call or text their tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).

Despite a violent weekend, police data shows that homicides in Philadelphia are down 17% compared to last year, while the number of shooting victims has also decreased by nearly 10%.
