San Diego’s music scene will be alive with energy this July as multiple free concerts take center stage, showcasing a diverse array of musical talent.
The highlight of the month is the 2025 Concerts on the Green free music series, which launches on July 13 at Kate Sessions Park.
This year, the concert series features the Pacific Records Fest, a platform for showcasing the best of San Diego’s local artists.
Among the six featured acts are reggae favorites Sandollar, surf rockers The Tourmaliners, singer-songwriter Kela Sako, Hawaiian-themed ensemble Slack Key Ohana, blues artist Shane Hall, and meditative musician Kristina Bennett.
Each artist brings a unique flavor to the festival, but Sandollar and Slack Key Ohana stand out.
Sandollar’s infectious reggae beats and catchy pop hooks have been gaining traction, making them a staple of summer festival lineups.
Their music has found its way into popular media, appearing in Netflix’s hit series Outer Banks.
Similarly, Slack Key Ohana, recently nominated for Album of the Year at Hawaii’s prestigious 48th Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, is also riding high on their reputation.
Concert-goers can enjoy a fantastic opportunity to experience the vibrant local music scene while surrounded by beautiful park scenery.
The Pacific Records Fest begins on Sunday, July 13 at Kate Sessions Park, located at 5115 Soledad Road, starting at 4 p.m., and entry is free.
In addition to the concerts at Kate Sessions, music lovers will not want to miss the Happy Together tour coming to Humphreys Concerts by the Bay on July 11.
This nostalgic tour features an incredible lineup of popular performers from the 1960s, bringing back hits that defined an era.
Among those on stage will be The Turtles, Jay & The Americans, Little Anthony, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, The Vogues, and The Cowsills.

Fans can anticipate a standout performance from Gary Puckett, a former San Diegan, known for his crowd-pleasing presence.
A special treat for the audience will be the appearance of Ron Dante, who will fill in as the vocalist for The Turtles, performing some of his classic hits including ‘Sugar Sugar’ from The Archies.

On July 13, the San Diego jazz scene will gather at Humphreys Backstage Live for a heartfelt celebration of the life of the late Kevin Koch, an acclaimed drummer who made significant contributions to music over five decades.
Koch, a founding member of the award-winning smooth jazz band Fattburger, is remembered for his influence on the genre, with the band releasing many albums through prominent labels since 1986.
An all-star lineup of musical friends and former collaborators will perform in his honor, ensuring that this tribute is a memorable and fitting celebration of his legacy.
