Greek police have arrested the ex-wife of Przemyslaw Jeziorski, a 43-year-old associate marketing professor at the University of California, Berkeley, following his tragic death on July 4 in Athens.
Jeziorski was allegedly shot and killed near the home where his 10-year-old twin children live with their mother. His brother, Lukasz Jeziorski, confirmed the details of the incident, stating that Przemyslaw was shot in the chest and back by an attacker who then fled the scene.
According to police sources, the arrest involved five individuals, including the professor’s ex-wife and her boyfriend, who has admitted to carrying out the shooting. The trio of accomplices also played roles in the crime and have confessed to their involvement.
“I am heartbroken, but I want to express our gratitude to the Greek police for identifying and capturing those responsible,” Lukasz Jeziorski said in a statement. “We seek justice, and we hope it will be served.”
Authorities reported that they had identified the vehicle associated with the suspects before the shooting occurred. It appears that two accomplices left the scene without the shooter, who attempted to evade identification by handing over his mobile phone and vehicle keys to a third accomplice.
Przemyslaw Jeziorski was in Greece to attend a court hearing regarding ongoing property and custody disputes involving his children. His brother indicated that he had made plans to bring his children to their paternal hometown of Gdynia, Poland, as he does every year, alongside a trip to Disneyland Paris.
Close friend Chemtai Mungo revealed that Jeziorski had arrived in Greece with the expectation of taking his children to Poland, based on prior court arrangements. However, upon his arrival, he was confronted with new disputes demanding his attention in court.
Mungo described the relationship between Przemyslaw and his ex-wife as less than amicable, highlighting the tensions that led to this tragic situation. She suggested that the shooting was intentional, given the incident’s occurrence in a seemingly safe neighborhood in Athens.
Witness accounts shared that a masked gunman approached Jeziorski and fired multiple shots into his chest and neck. The horrendous details of the attack have left many in shock, particularly among the family who now mourns his untimely death.
Currently, Przemyslaw Jeziorski’s children, who hold both U.S. and Polish citizenship, are under government care as mandated by Greek child custody laws.
According to reports, the five suspects are set to reappear in court on Monday as the investigation continues. The legal proceedings and the family’s quest for justice are expected to unfold in the coming days as the community grapples with the loss of a well-respected academic.
As the case develops, more details are likely to emerge, providing further insight into the motivations and circumstances that led to this shocking crime.
