WASHINGTON, April 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Oracle has announced a significant step toward enhancing the U.S. Army’s operational capabilities, securing a firm-fixed price task order through the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability (JWCC) contract.
This task order will provide the U.S. Army’s Enterprise Cloud Management Agency (ECMA) with cloud compute and storage services via the Oracle U.S. Defense Cloud.
These services will encompass Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Impact Levels (IL) 2, 4, 5, and 6.
The ECMA operates under the U.S. Army’s Office of the CIO and plays a critical role in advancing the Army Digital Transformation Strategy (ADTS).
This new task order builds on the DoD’s largest competitive JWCC award from 2024, aiming to further innovate and expand ECMA’s catalog of cloud capabilities, thus supporting Army customers across all operational domains.
“ECMA is committed to delivering innovation at scale with a secure multicloud environment that empowers the Army to achieve its digital transformation goals,” stated Gabe Chiulli, Chief Technology Officer, ECMA.
Oracle Defense Cloud features secure and isolated cloud regions specifically designed for government and defense workloads, addressing stringent regulatory requirements and security standards across all DoD classification levels.
By providing dedicated regions, Oracle offers a hyperscale cloud environment with consistent global pricing and services equivalent to those available in Oracle’s public cloud, while ensuring physical separation for the utmost security and resilience.
This approach presents organizations with the opportunity to achieve significant cost savings, as the rates in the Oracle Defense Cloud regions align with those available to their commercial counterparts using Oracle’s public cloud offerings.
With Oracle Defense Cloud, ECMA can securely maintain sensitive information at scale, while facilitating seamless migration from existing on-premises environments and simplifying complex integrations.
“Federal agencies face increasing pressure to modernize their infrastructure while maintaining the highest security standards and controlling costs,” commented Kim Lynch, Executive Vice President, Government, Defense and Intelligence, Oracle.
“Our purpose-built cloud solutions will help ECMA address these challenges head-on, delivering the performance, security, and efficiencies that Army customers need to achieve more with less.”
To optimize performance for Oracle-specific workloads, Oracle Defense Cloud utilizes specialized hardware and software, including Oracle Exadata, Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), and Oracle Autonomous Database.
Additionally, it integrates advanced data analytics and AI/ML capabilities, uniquely tailored to meet the specific needs of the DoD, enabling a consistent experience across all Impact Levels.
