The United States government recently held a meeting with Cuban ambassador Lianys Torres Rivera to express discontent over the harassment of its diplomats in Havana, particularly targeting mission chief Mike Hammer.

A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department conveyed that Hammer’s role and actions fall within the protective umbrella of the Vienna Convention, challenging the Cuban regime’s claims that his engagements with civil society were improper.
