Blustery and Chilly Weather Forecast for Northern New England

Northern New England is expected to experience scattered light rain and mountain snow showers, though little accumulation is anticipated.

Blustery conditions will persist across the region, with wind gusts potentially reaching up to 20 miles per hour at times.

Following the low that swept two fronts through New England on Tuesday, it will stall and meander over Eastern Canada, establishing a cyclonic flow across the area on Wednesday.

This shift in weather will usher in cooler air, accompanied by a hearty westerly breeze and bits of backside precipitation affecting New England.

While most of the region will remain dry under partly to mostly cloudy skies, residents in the northern and western parts can expect a few scattered light showers or flurries.

This activity is driven by the westerly flow that spurs the formation of several upslope cells of precipitation, but accumulation will be minimal and unlikely to cause any significant impact.

Boston and Coastal New England are projected to have the best chances of sunshine breaking through the clouds.

As residents head out the door, they’ll feel a noticeable chill in the air.

Morning temperatures are expected to range from the mid-30s to the low 40s, but due to the breeze, it will feel closer to the freezing mark.

By the afternoon, temperatures are likely to reach the low 50s, which is just a few degrees below average for this time of year.

Interior portions of New England may only warm up to the mid- to upper 40s.

Winds will remain brisk, ranging between 10 to 15 miles per hour, with potential gusts reaching 25 to 30 miles per hour.

These winds could cause loose items in backyards to be blown around or even bring down a few small branches.

Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to rebound on Thursday and Friday, with the return of sunshine, and will build into the 70s by Saturday.

However, this warmup coincides with another round of rain arriving in the region, marking the sixth consecutive weekend that rain has fallen in Boston.

In Greater Boston, residents can expect a chilly start to Wednesday, with highs climbing to the low 50s under mostly sunny skies.

A breeze between 10 and 15 mph will be prevalent, with gusts exceeding 20 mph at times.

Partial clearing is anticipated on Wednesday night, with lows dipping into the upper 30s.

In Central and Western Massachusetts, Wednesday begins brisk, with out-the-door temperatures in the 30s.

The skies will be partly to mostly cloudy, with highs reaching the upper 40s from Worcester to Springfield, and upper 30s in the Berkshires where residents might encounter a sprinkle or flurry.

Some clearing will occur overnight, with temperatures sliding to the low to mid-30s and a moderate breeze persisting throughout the day.

For Southeastern Massachusetts, a chilly morning will see temperatures rising to the low 50s under mostly cloudy skies, accompanied by a steady breeze of 10 to 15 mph.

Areas will experience some clearing late Wednesday night, with temperatures falling to the mid-30s.

The Cape and Islands region will see a mostly cloudy day, with highs in the upper 40s and breezy conditions.

Wind speeds will reach about 15 mph, with gusts exceeding 20 mph expected.

Clearing is likely at night, with lows falling to the upper 30s.

Rhode Island will also observe mostly cloudy skies with a cool start and highs in the low 50s, as well as a consistent breeze throughout the day.

Overnight, the area will see some clearing with lows hitting the mid-30s.

In New Hampshire, a chilly Wednesday will be characterized by cloudy skies with scattered light rain and snow showers, primarily north of Concord.

Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 40s, while coastal areas may hit the low 50s.

Clearing can be expected overnight, with lows settling into the mid-30s.

Vermont and Maine will see scattered showers and high-elevation snow flurries throughout the day, with temperatures reaching the mid-40s and coastal Maine potentially reaching the low 50s.

A breeze of 10 to 15 mph with gusts between 20 and 30 mph is in the forecast, with overnight lows falling to freezing under mostly cloudy skies.
